  • Oh man, I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt until I read the content of his email.

First he says that he didn't see anything that would suggest sex crimes, then he says he met Jeffrey and "the girls" who were 4 young women introduced to him as students, and says they were very hospitable.

  • Lol no. It means you pay a subscription fee for everything individually. MicroTransactions, only this time they have your files hostage.

  • That was the argument in favor of bombing hospitals, and it wasn't a valid argument then, either.

  • I mean, I also don't care about cheaters because I'm not a competitive gamer. So this isn't for me, anyway. Games should be fun and relaxing, and if you're playing for money, then it should be on the people selling the product to monitor player behavior, the way any other pro sports league does.

  • Well exactly, there's not even a plausible pretense. But that should be the story, not the collateral damage to a historical site (although that part is horrifying, too).

  • What could possibly be in Arg Square that would justify bombing it? It's an open air tourist attraction.

  • Feeling's mutual, I'm sure.

  • If you need kernel access because you don't trust me not to cheat, I don't really want to play your game.

  • Conservativism isn't an ideology based on principles. It's built on the identity of the conservative as the good guy. You cannot apply rationality to conservatives, because they aren't holding rational positions. Whatever they say is good because they are the good guys. Anyone who opposes them is the bad guy, and anything the bad guy does is bad because they are the bad guy. If the good guy conservative and the bad guy progressive do the exact same thing, the conservative believes that it is good when the good guy does it and bad when the bad guy does it. It's not hypocritical because it isn't a conflicting viewpoint, it's just an entirely subjective viewpoint that changes based on where the conservative is standing. Like imagine playing NFL football with a team that has defined the end zone as wherever they are standing on the field. Wherever they are, Touchdown! Because touchdowns happen wherever they are standing. If you take the ball from them, then it is no longer the end zone because they don't have the ball anymore. If you push their defense back, you still can never score because the end zone moves with them.

That's the game Conservatives play, and that's why you will never convince them they are wrong. You cannot compromise with a conservative, and you cannot show them the flaws in their positions because they have no positions. If they realize they were wrong, they will simply move three feet to another position and decide that they were justified in their false belief at the time they held it.

That's why you see so many leopards eating their faces, but you never see them grow or learn from the experience. It's why they can condemn abortion and then demand an abortion when they want one. It's why they can support violence against immigrants while being immigrants, because they believe themselves to be "the good ones." It's why they can insist on small government when it comes to their industry or lifestyle choices, but they will insist on regulating and taxing into oblivion anything they don't like.

Imagine how comforting that must feel, to be playing a game where you're always winning because you are defined as the winner. As long as you remain within the identity of the in-group, and support the same delusion in others, you can never be wrong. It's seductive and easy. You don't have to learn anything, or question anything, or prove anything. Your goodness insists upon itself, and everything else is evil trying to knock you off your game. You're not selfish, you're conservative. You want to preserve and protect the "good" which is coincidentally yourself. You want to change the "bad" which is conveniently anything uou don't like.

It's a pattern that always results in fascism, oligarchy, corruption, and oppression.

  • And they would put some fucking flat earther in charge of the project, resulting in some additional ecological disaster of epic proportions.

  • What the fuck are you talking about?

  • What the fuck are you talking about?

  • Foxes warn Coyotes are eating all the Hens.

  • "Do you think healthcare should be free?" is not the same question as "Do you care enough about free healthcare to vote for a candidate who supports it?" Voters are largely uninformed, unengaged, and only rarely do more than show up to vote if they bother to do that.

  • It counted for a maximum of three votes in three races. Did you not vote for anyone else? Why didn't you vote in most of the elections?

  • Probably for the best under the current administration. They'd try to build an ICE detention center with Trump's face large enough to be seen from Earth. None of the astronauts would survive.

  • The only reason Biden stepped down when he did was that the DNC wanted to avoid a primary they knew Kamala wouldn't win. They waited until she was the only viable candidate. It wasn't delusion, it was strategy. It was terrible strategy, but I also think that's part of the strategy. We didn't "get" Biden to step down. We failed to get rid of him soon enough for it to matter.

The problem is that there aren't enough voters who support free healthcare, abolition of ICE, and zero weapons for Israel. We need leadership to make the argument for those policies, and those leaders are simply lacking. There are more every day, and I will fight with everything I have to support them, but they are going to keep losing for a while. Our fight is long, and we plant the trees that will shade our decendents when we are long buried. And in the meantime, there will be an election, and you will make a choice. Choose something you can live with, because it will have an impact on the world. If you choose not to participate, you are still equally responsible for the outcome.

  • So you didn't vote in a majority of the most recent elections? Because in 2024, PSL fielded three candidates, De la Cruz for President, Kevin Martinez for State Assembly in California, and Eduardo Vargas for City Council in Los Angeles. No congressional candidates, none in statewide elections, and De la Cruz wasn't even on the ballot in enough states to secure an electoral college victory with a clean sweep. PSL has never once won an election in America. Even if you lived in Los Angeles and voted for all three candidates, you would have left most of your ballot blank.

If you're saying you only vote for PSL candidates, you aren't really participating in elections. I applaud your conviction, and I hope someone more engaged than you can help the PSL party do better.
