  • The major problem—one of the major problems, for there are several—one of the many major problems with governing people is that of whom you get to do it; or rather of who manages to get people to let them do it to them.

To summarize: it is a well-known fact that those people who must want to rule people are, ipso facto, those least suited to do it.

To summarize the summary: anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job.

  • Seconded on do it. It's a lot better than it was even a few years ago.

  • Last one.

  • Good USians know to drive wrecklessly down our streets. It's those damn illegals riding electric bikes wrecklessly that's the problem!

  • Same story but a little further along. Maxed out atomoxitine, and now on 30mg of Vyvanse. Starting my morning with an amphetamine and a cup of tea and I could take a nap. But focusing has been so much easier. I still hyperfocus, but at least now I realize I'm doing it. Also, I can listen to audiobooks now, which has been great. YMMV obviously.

  • We started finding out with the first run of Trump that our government still operates on gentlemen's agreements and the pony express being cutting edge technology.

  • The Fediverse is "hard" because you have to pick a server. And that's apparently enough to stop normies from going any further.

  • I have an NFC take at the bottom of the stairs that I scan before going up for the night. It turns off all the appropriate lights downstairs, bedroom lights on upstairs, sets the air filters, etc. But it also has the voice assistant tell me good night and to sleep well. Because I apparently need that to happen.

  • Same thing during covid. If we stop testing, our numbers aren't getting worse!

  • Ugh, I know that too. I almost even said after Carter put them up. 🤦🏼‍♂️

  • Like Nixon did with the solar panels.

  • Yeah, Mastodon is like Twitter, Pixelfed is like IG, Owncast is like Twitch, Friendica is like Facebook etc. They all connect and talk to each other to some extent, but you're not going to get a great experience using Pixelfed (and app for photos) to stay up to date on someone's Mastodon post.

  • No. Technically you only need one account for the entire Fediverse, but in reality you need one per service you use in depth. So one for Lemmy, one for Mastodon, one for Pixelfed, etc.

  • I got mine recently in a dxent aized city and while there are plenty of nodes popping up on the map, the local channel is pretty quiet. Is that normal?

  • It's in a very red area. They probably didn't believe it was real, while simultaneously injecting bleach and horse dewormer to cure themselves.

  • He's mine! I saw him talk when he came to our community center. It was refreshing having a politician who seemed ready to actually make positive change. Because after our last system of government, we definitely need it.

  • Thanks!

  • I have one as well and love it. It reads like my paperwhite, writing is easy and comfortable and has a pretty decent handwriting to text ability. I've found marking up and/or signing PDFs to be a great bonus feature I didn't think about when I got it. Overall very happy with it and running Android, I can do pretty much everything I want with it.

  • You have a CNAME record that points service.my.domain to machine-that-hosts-caddy.ts-domain.ts.net, and with tailscale enable it hits the caddy server and then reverse proxies it to the machine:port of "service"? Which may or may not be the tailscale IP address and port?
