  • On one hand, its not that bad on a Mac... but that's because the OS is designed in such a way where there's nothing there and it sorta gets lost. Windows isn't like that at all.

On the other hand, At least its not right above the keyboard like some of the ones we have at work... the "up the nose" cam is not flattering.

  • Actually, thats false. Not that it matters. Hillary had more votes than Trump in that race. And besides that, with a roughly a third of people not voting, no one truly had the Majority of Americans... just the majority of Americans that gave enough of a crap about their country and future of the world to get off their ass and vote.

  • 6 countries?! You gotta pump those numbers up, those are rookie numbers.

  • Ramble is all he does, its kinda his whole identity at this point.

  • And why do that when we can just bomb countries for their oil and keep both the petroleum industry AND the war machine churning!

  • Can we just pin this comment? Seems like it's pretty much a perfect summary of the situation.

  • Satya, I really want to stop saying it too... But it's everywhere, so i call it like it is. Stop making the Slop and I'll stop saying it.

  • Keychron has a few with foam in solid aluminum shells. A few people At my office have and really like them.

One Has the Keychron with Hall effect switched and likes it except that it's reactive to the magnets in his laptop (used for the lid sensing and closure) so that's something to look out for.

  • I built a board with Kailh speed coppers and orings for a similar issue... My daughter would get up early, like 7am and want to play various games while one of us were trying to sleep. And we also shared a wall. Even the gateron browns were louder.

Another thing to consider is the keycaps. I found PBT cherry was louder and resonated more than SA ABS on the board she was using. YMMV. I hear foam/rubber sheets under the PCB and if you can afford it, a thick aluminum or brass shell.

Not sure on specific boards. I tend to stick with TKL for the family PC and split boards for my wrist health.

  • My favorite question to ask callers when I worked phone support: "What happens when you push the power button"

I got so many "wait, theres a power button?!" replies. And a few <click, whurrrr> "Uhh, i'll call you back if i have anything else".

  • I'm old... i remember when everyone absolutely abhorred the ribbon interface.

  • Not sure if they still do, but PC Manufacturers used to get kick backs from every vendor they added shovelware for. For example, E-Machines was famous for it... AOL, Adobe, Office, shareware "pay to unlock" versions of games, Norton, etc. everyone sent checks to Dell, HP, Compaq, etc, just to peddle their wares for them.

  • It will take decades if not centuries to get back to the amount of goodwill and trust the US had across the globe before this fascist felon took office... and we didn't even have that much to begin with. He doesn’t believe in America First, he's only goal is pushing us toward America Alone.

  • Swap is a thing. It'll kinda suck, but not as much as it would have pre-nvme. Except that now there's an nvme shortage... and an SSD shortage.

Ugh, I guess I'll just put Windows 2000/ME on there to complete the retro look.

  • Seven Months. These men are likely dead, lost, abused, whatever. Who knows how many hundreds followed. This administration plays fast and loose and by the time anyone cares to keep them in check its way too little and too late.

  • This is my theory. The kind of stuff I buy there is all electronics manufactured in china/Asia anyway. I could buy it direct or from ali express, but Amazon shipping is hella cheap and fast and they actually do returns quickly and correctly.

  • TBF, US tech enabled US surveillance as well.

  • Always have been... but Google is just as bad, so installing Chrome isn't going to help you there. Honestly, even FF or anything else on Windows wont even get you out of that fate. They've proven they take screen shots, likely log keypresses, etc.

This isn't new or even newsworthy anymore. Being okay with these sorts of things is like, literally part of EULA's and such for decades. And people willingly give up privacy in trade for whatever service or product they're choosing.
