  • I always used Xubuntu or Linux Mint Xfce. Both have access to the Ubuntu package repository and are easy to use and install.

  • But not for mobile, especially Android. I would like librewolf to maintain a hardened Android app with their own F-Droid repo.

  • What a load of dog dung that article is. Justifying censorship, labelling everything that is not liked by some politicial "expert" as far right extreme.

  • alternativeto.net

Use this site and look for the "Open source" tag and double check the source code is available on every piece of software you find.

  • I knew this was clickbait.

  • True.

I wish someone can fork Brave on desktop and mobile and take out all the other stuff. And if someone could fork firefox for desktop and mobile and make it a hardened browser out of the box.

  • Not sure if Syphon rejects community contributions but I wish Syphon client got more love and attention. Syphon is more privacy focused and is written in Dart, allowing it to be compiled for desktop and mobile.

  • Before you change your accounts over to your new email, use email aliases like anonaddy or simplelogin for your online accounts.

  • Why not just make a lemmy community? There is no tag feature but you can have it so only moderators post if you wish.

  • Cash is better than a card. And you can use Monero on any online store that takes crypto by using a swap service.

  • Matrix > Telegram

  • Yeah I saw GnuCash and MoneyManagerEx and I am sure their desktop clients are good. However their mobile clients are lacking in features and has not been updated in awhile.

I hope more FOSS devs use flutter and tauri for apps since they can be compiled for desktop and mobile (tauri is working on mobile compiling right now).

  • Looks promising. I been finding lots of money and asset management apps lately that are FOSS but they are all server side. I would like to find something like this that is completely client side only and you save your data to a encrypted file which one can easily sync to other devices with Syncthing and easily backup.

Client side will always be more secure than storing your data on a centralized server, even if you self host your own server. Or even if Ghostfolio created a flutter or tauri app and let users have the option to store their data locally in a encrypted file or on a server of their choice. That will be the killer app/service.

  • How is blendOS based?

And personally most distros will do since linux is secure over all. I like Linux Mint personally and is good for programming and generic use.

  • There are other public Jitsi Meet instances out there anyone can use without an account.

  • What a slap to the tits to Youtube content creators. Essentially it is just "diveristy training" for Youtube creators.

  • Never seen a Tauri app yet. Looks very promising. I shall bookmark this for the future.

  • Because crypto is border less and censorship resistant.

  • There are many exchanges out there. Usually the KYC exchanges are cheaper in fees. I like Kraken since they got Monero.
