There also used to be an open source Alexa-like kind of smart speaker that went by Mycroft AI. They were doing crowd funding I believe but that didn't go anywhere and so they eventually stopped working on it. I can't speak for the millions of videos on YouTube and I clearly haven't watched as many science videos as the next guy, but I won't rule it out entirely if the person backs it up with actual science. Psuedo science like RFK wasn't something they cited on YouTube. Science must prove itself.
The only thing that's turned me off about FOSS is if I see suspicious stuff about it in their bug reports. All software has vulnerabilities, sure, but depending on what the code is trying to do, cannot trust it.
While I can understand somewhat, it's still better than them only getting a pet just to get chicks but then they turn out being a horrible owner. Just my take.
opt-in for now.... much like how they eventually snuck in their built-in spyware to screenshot your desktop behind the scenes.
