  • Kind of. Definitely said that if we continue to degrade local climates, we could face massive risks to population centers.

  • To be fair though, he’s been writing on this topic for nearly 20 years. His book collapse is still one of the best history books I’ve read.

  • Opteron, what year is this?

  • More like how long until the creators are jailed in gitmo.

  • We’ll just head back to Wild West days.

  • Not really. Most of the rural plans in the US are run by utilities companies that are local.

  • Sorry you have experience living around, working on CAFO’s?

  • Much better? You ever been around the hog and chicken barns?

  • That was the route I went.

But I kind of see the issue the natalists are talking about. Modern economy and social safety nets are built on the idea that people will have more than 2 kids. Since that hasn’t been happening in most modernized economies for the last 30 years, we are seeing constrictions coming. No one knows how this will play out. Japan is probably the best example of how to manage population loss, but even that could doom them to irrelevance soon.

Population decline is kind of a cascading event. I feel like the movie children of men helps visualize what the world in population decline can become.

  • Honestly, it might be the only way to build wealth over the next 20 years.

  • Sorry, but my dog causes less climate change than a CEO.

  • My TI-89 got me through college.

  • To become a good shooter? Absolutely. Takes time, money and lots of practice. You also don’t define what shooting skills you believe make you good. Pistol, shotgun, rifle? The shooting sports are pretty varied, you can get really good at certain sports and be abysmal at other ones.

  • But that is what CEO’s want. They want to pay for a near super human to do all of the different skill sets ( hiring, firing, finance, entry level engineering, IT tickets, etc) and it looks like it is starting to work. Seems like solid engineering students graduating recently have all been struggling to land decent starting jobs. I’ll grant it’s not as simple as this explanation, but I really think the wealth class are going to be happy riding this flaming ship right down into the depths.
