  • It kind of goes both ways too, doesn't it? Like, the consumers aren't going to flock to the alternative platform without good content creators already there, and the content creators usually want to stay on whatever platform will get them the most views.

    Fuck google.

  • Just wanted to say thanks, this works perfect so far and ended up being the most viable solution for me.

  • Could it be hand lotion that you are smelling?

Those paper cups (and sleeves) have a tendency to dry one's hands out if you work with them all day...

  • Perfect, don't know how I missed it. Looks great now, thanks!

  • That is a really sleek ui, just wanted to say nice work. Is there any way to change the default image size on the card view? I find the compact view's images too small for my liking and the card view too big. A good medium size might be ideal.

  • One of them should say "that's a no from me, dawg"

  • What differences does this have over Lemmy?

Edit: I never actually used Tumbler

  • So that you can wash your wrists/arms?

    Lol

  • Mother Gaia is Savage 😳

  • Less complex is definitely better in this scenario. Getting people to switch and use another piece of software will already be a challenge.

I'll check that one out though, and thank you!

  • I will keep that one in mind, thank you for the reference.

  • This seems like a possible contender. I'm currently giving it a test now just to see what it's like. I'm fairly new to all this, what do you mean by their geo-stack not being open?

Edit: I'm not sure this one will be able to work after all. I think it probably needs to be mobile focused, and this one seems to want to be used on desktop. I tried uploading a .pdf for a georeferenced map and it just got stuck in the loading process (this could be just because my internet is shit right now). I may give it another try, but for now I might have to keep looking.

  • To each their own I suppose :)

  • Organic maps looks beautiful, osmand is kinda bland

  • probably got distracted and looked away for a second

  • That's really cool

  • I've got to say, a lot of your responses seem like you are pre-convinced that there isn't any solution to your problem. I think that's why you've been getting so much snark/pushback. (Are you looking for genuine help, or just needing to vent? Either way, it's ok. Separating the two might be beneficial to you though, that's all I'm saying here)

Did you read Schmorp's full story, or just the one link I sent? I know it's not step by step instructions, but if you're serious about organizing something I feel like there are a lot of good tips you could pick up on from the way that they did/are doing things.

Do you have any libraries you could frequent? Many of the unknowns you have could be addressed at a library and I think they would have much more relevant answers pertaining to your locality.

Also, here's a link to something that I just saw here, that seemed like it could be potentially relevant/useful: https://mobilizon.fr/

  • Schmorp! I was just talking about you!! :)
