  • I didn't have civics in my school. This may also be why we are doomed.

  • ... I don't mean to be that person, but isn't the second one an AI image?

  • Practically, there's no way I'm gonna ask my old arthritic dad to take his shoes off when he comes into my house. Even though he somehow always has the muddiest shoes of anyone I know 😂

  • Any idea how polling protection groups will work this time around? I'm not really sure what it means to nationalize voting, nor the extent of what it means to have ICE outside of polling locations.

Edit: I'm looking into joining up with a group to protect the polls this midterm.

  • Right now? "Democranz and republicrats" gets me.

the CEO's are shredding filesAnd the democrins and the republicratsAre flashing their toothy smiles

And uncle Tom is posing for a photo op with the oval office clanAnd uncle Sam is rigging cockfights in the promised land

  • I actually think everyone should have to do two things before they hit their mid-20s in order to fix most of the problems of the world:

The first is to take a hallucinogen. Get out of your own head for a minute and see the world from a different perspective. Too many of us can't do this.

The second is to work as a server in a restaurant. Nuff said.

  • Curious as to why Common Dreams and others aren't using the term "Internment Camp"? I'm not trying to whitewash the present, but it does seem to me that a large number of people might feel that term "concentration camp" is a dramatization of the current situation. "Internment" is also awful but less loaded, and might get more people on board and thinking about this seriously. Thoughts?

Edit: Upon looking it up, I have a few thoughts. One, some say "internment camp" was white washing in the first place. Two, "internment camps" might specifically refer to U.S. Army run concentration camps during wartime. I'm still not really clear, though, and would love some additional insight.

  • Not for everybody, but you might check out the enneagram. If only because it's a relief to see yourself, contextualize your personal bs, and see how different the bs of other people can be. I think that framework made me more self-accepting.

https://www.enneagraminstitute.com/ you don't need to take a test. You can just read about the types and see what resonates with you.

  • This link needs more prominence. Thank you for sharing. Spot on SNL.

  • I thought the best conclusion was the haj. All the details lined up.

  • Thank you dearly and sincerely for saving the text. I thought it was gone forever after OP deleted their post (internet terrorism imo). Last i saw the comment section was still kicking around, but without being able to see the question.

Should be in a best of archive and saved for posterity. The set up was important, but the comment section was the best sleuthing around. Would love to know if it actually was the haj.

  • I guess it was more of a "Canadian sorry" 😂 I'm practicing for when the motherland accepts my transfer application from North Carolina.

  • One more: I thought redlining also conveyed purposeful impediments to black home ownership, like in the refusal of mortgage applications.

  • Wasn't Carl only an intelligence of three when he first entered the dungeon?

  • But you can break off fun, quirkly-sized chunks!! Didn't I see somewhere it was supposed to be a map of something?

Also, I had no idea until this post that it wasn't made in the US. I love Chocolonely.

    Edit, from the Chocolonely site:

Why are your bars unequally divided?

It doesn’t make sense for chocolate bars to be divided into equal-sized chunks when there is so much inequality in the chocolate industry! The unequally-sized chunks of our 180g bars are a palatable way of reminding Choco Fans and Serious Friends that the profits in the chocolate industry are unequally divided.

And in case you haven’t noticed, the bottom of our bars depicts the West African coastline. The chunks just above it represent the Gulf of Guinea. From left to right, you have Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Togo and Benin (terribly politically incorrect, we know, but we had to combine them to create enough space for a hazelnut), Nigeria and part of Cameroon.

  • I also did just now. The big yellow button said "Buy it for free" hah!

  • ... Can NC join... Just the little peninsula of western NC?

  • Sorry, but can we just try to succeed at this small step before we build to larger actions?

  • I think it's more like NOOOO.
