  • You can apply the same view to e.g. healthcare. It is a lot cheaper to pay for preventative healthcare for everyone than to deal with health issues once they get to the point where they become unbearable.

  • Why exactly did it take that long to add those fairly obvious goods?

  • I think it’s only possible to understand how weird drinking is when you don’t drink.

This German satire video substituting heroin for alcohol might make it a bit easier to understand for those immersed in alcohol culture. Unfortunately it only has auto-translated subtitles for other languages.

  • I am not talking about the last one or two election but more like the last 50-100 years.

  • The brain of the average Hungarian voter is mush anyways.

Sometimes i wonder if that is a regional culture thing in that part of Europe considering the kind of people Austria and Bavaria vote for in large numbers too.

  • My point was that people would still buy drinks so you can't count every sale of some alcoholic beverage as an economic benefit and overall alcohol has a lot of economic downsides for society to the point where it would surprise me very much if the tiny little bit of extra people spend on alcohol compared to other drinks would make up for that.

  • I strongly suspect that spot is around 0ml of alcohol since it is not as if people do not consume liquids if those liquids do not contain alcohols.

  • There were the 737 MAX MCAS crashes before that and some other quality issues that were less reported on with the control surfaces on the tail fins and the rear pressure bulk heads in the tail.

  • See how far Apple went to prevent other browser engines from being affected by security issues on their platform?

  • I mean it hasn't been perfect but it has made a good effort in keeping the security issues contained in only webkit and not letting a lot of them out to affect other browsers.

  • Most whistleblowers today already don't really assume they will be able to continue working for the company.

  • Personally I am a big proponent of introducing a corporate death penalty for particularly severe crimes of corporations, as in, the corporation gets dissolved, every employee gets fired and every asset gets auctioned off. That might convince some more employees not to silently watch when they see illegal things happen internally.

  • Or, alternatively, have that excuse prepared for use the next time Ukraine shot down a suitable transport craft, regardless of what it was actually carrying.

  • I don't think they yearn for any time that actually existed in the past. They yearn for a simpler world, one where people all have the same skin colour, sexual orientation, religion, life goals,... and where good things happen to people like them and bad things happen to people who are different.

  • In fact lets go a step further and just stop making news articles about anything anyone posts on that racist cesspool website.

  • Did little Elon learn a new bad word to apply to all the things he already didn't like?

  • Only if you assume the plan is meant to benefit the country. If you assume that they want to profit from the suffering it makes more sense. Irrational, cult-like mindsets are easier to peddle when people are miserable.

  • Not only that but as a nation focussed on exports it makes even less sense to cut off trade than as one relying on imports.

  • Well, technically there is a hard upper limit at the point where the first necessary nutrient isn't available in the form of some food (or pill,...) that lasts that long I suppose.
