  • That's good to hear. I assume people saying "ZFS" are usually referring to this OpenZFS (and usually not Oracle ZFS)?

  • How does it work before this release?

  • I was unaware of that phrase/book, you're probably right.

  • I remember hearing about DRM on trains from a Louis Rossmann right to repair video (turns out he was talking about them).

"Delay, deflect, derail" needs it's own wikipedia page (like Embrace, extend, and extinguish).

  • The government is supposed to be representing voters' best interests and have a monopoly on force to enforce rules. We can't trust anyone to decide for us what speech we can listen to. A government should have no say on restricting speech (sadly, even if that speech does cause harm to people in our LGBT family).

A business should not have power comparable to a government. You probably have to interact with the government to some degree, you shouldn't have to interact with a specific business at all.

  • The voting system used is important. "Pick the one you want, most votes wins" sounds perfectly usable but it trends towards two main parties. There is undue pressure on the voter to choose the main party they dislike the least so avoid the main party they dislike the most. It gets worse the deeper we look at the "winner take all" (first past the post) voting system (used in the USA, UK).

I don't know what an effective protest would look like but that's probably the better option. People tend to get insulted or bored if you try to explain how their vote doesn't really matter.

  • I didn't mean to imply this has really happened, just the idea is old.

  • An oldie, but goldie.

"Sorry I can't come to work, still gay"

  • People are free to out themselves as ignorant on Meta. Technology is getting crazy.

  • I don't want Digital Restrictions Management in my cables.

  • What are ASRock doing?

  • "If anyone is going to oppress our people it's us"

  • Linus said they were unaware Honey was being bad for users when they dropped Honey.

I'm unaware of when Honey was purposely giving users not the best coupons - did that happen back then?

  • LTT says to have not known users were being mistreated at the time they dropped the sponsor, and that they didn't discover it but were informed.

  • That doesn't include users being a victim? Honey gives users worse coupons when better ones are available, apparently that happens if companies do a deal with Honey.

  • The crows were shown how to get the food iir.

My understanding is LLM contain artificial neural networks. A simplification with an amount of weights similar to small animals. A simpler model aught to make investigation more clear 😅

Neural networks are "trained" by adjusting the weights on "neurons". I assume real brains are training themselves on every input while LLM is limitted to sessions with training data. Do you suspect there could be a though process when it's processing how many letters are in strawberry? What about when it's weighs are adjusted during training?

  • Damn. I think a few updates have happened on the App but not seen an issue yet. Guess I'll update the docker image when an app update does break it - family don't use it often and I don't want to manage their phone updating the app.

  • Apparently docker images must be manually updated, so currently I don't. Thanks for the info.
