Great. Terrific. Full speed ahead. Of course, the United States already has a lot of Russian sanctions — the U.S. and its allies have frozen about $280 billion in Russian assets held overseas, around $5 billion in U.S. banks; barred several Russian banks from the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication, which helps to process international financial payments; tried to seize the U.S. assets of sanctioned Russian individuals; prohibited the import of Russian crude oil, liquefied natural gas and coal; and limited U.S. investments in many Russian energy companies.
I find this fascinating mostly because any other country in the world would just accept that they simply could not impose their will on the country in question, but in typical American fashion, the US will shit itself in outrage at the suggestion of the fact.
Beijing announced on Tuesday that China had recorded a US$33 billion net capital inflow from non-banking sectors and higher foreign holdings of Chinese equities in May – an acceleration from April’s US$17.3 billion inflow.
Almost a doubling from the month before. That's pretty wild. This is before the Iran-Israel war started as well, which makes Israel much more financially unstable.
I would presume that a shift like this would result in wavering support for Western interests, especially as their economic motivation shifts to China. Does that mean there is a limit to Middle Eastern support for Israel? Or would there need to be more decoupling from other perspectives as well? Military decoupling comes to mind.
Beijing has pledged to introduce more financial reforms.
This is also interesting too, I wonder what exactly they're thinking (I have no idea, & couldn't even begin to speculate).
The amount of people who came out to defend Polanski in the aftermath of that news told me all I needed to know, especially since the majority of them are still incredibly influential in Hollywood
What is the likelihood that anyone started encroaching on these borders? I hadn't considered the possibility because I haven't heard from Hezbollah recently, but statements like this:
The Houthis have vowed to respond to the assassination attempt and called on other militias to prepare for what they referred to as a "march" to Israel.
Make me reconsider, although Yemen is so far away I don't know how practical it would be.
I remember reading about this when I watched this because it struck me so much of the satanic panic- this film was really foundational in setting up the cultural push toward the satanic panic
I started using this when I read your comment & yeah, this is fantastic. It's exactly what I've needed. I'm on Dialectical Materialism by Adoratsky & it's explained so well. Thank you for posting this!
Ohhh that's interesting, how did you feel otherwise?
