  • Did you know if you took the all intestines of a person and laid them out end to end, that person would die?

  • "Tuna fish" is a phase used primarily for canned tuna, but not for the live fish or things like tuna steak. It's because when canned tuna was created in the US in the early 1900's people who were not right next to the sea (like the majority of the US) did not know what "tuna" was. Firstly, the word is a of Spanish origin and secondly, its a salt water only fish. So in order to sell this to middle America, which was where most of the consumers were at the time but was also made up of people who have never seen the ocean, they added the word "fish" to show like other tinned fish that was commonly purchased: codfish, bluefish, and whitefish, this is also a fish and that is what you can expect when you open this can.

  • My friend changed her name socially, but not legally about 18 years back purely because she was too lazy to do all the paperwork it took to change your name. Now, her husband says it was one of the smartest choices she could have done and I agree.

  • Any active Matrix spaces anyone can recommend to me? I joined a few from the public directory but they all seem dead.

  • Enzor-DeMeo says will offer users their choice of model and product, all in a browser they can understand and from a company they can trust. “We’re not incentivized to push one model or the other,” he says. “So we’re going to try to go to market with multiple models.”

As long as it doesn't become something that is forcibly pushed in to everything I do with the browser and my actions on the browser aren't available to the LLM they go with, which it sounds like it won't be, I don't care if an AI agent exists in the software I use. Though I do feel like the working hours for this could be used in a better way, I'd love to see PWA's come to Firefox for Linux, as an example.

  • If I remember correctly I think I read he also manages all of Musks baby mamas. He hands out the funds and enforces the ndas

  • Oh, I wasn't just there for The Goonies, we were there for salmon fishing, but you know while you are there, its a thing. Like, they sell the shirts at that brew pub. It's going to get mentioned.

  • For those who are talking about how this didn't happen in your household growing up, please remember you are 1, at best 2 generations removed from full on enforcement of gender roles suppressing things like this, many times physically enforced. So yea, maybe your dad was the one who baked the turkey or did the dishes, but you can be damn sure his dad didn't.

  • I visited Astoria, OR and the bartender at the brew pub was out right offended that I mentioned The Goonies.

  • All I got to say is that the new Steam controller better link to devices as a controller and not a mouse. The current steam controller shows up as a mouse when I connect it to mobile devices via Bluetooth, so I can't use it with games that have controller integration build in to the game, since they think I am connecting a Bluetooth mouse. The only reason I don't use my current steam controller as my main controller is because of the mouse issue.

  • AHHHHHHHH I love my steam controller. I love this upgrade to the Steam Link and the Steam Controller. I am definitely going to try and get this and the Steam Machine. I hope the pricing is doable.

  • The days are long but the years are short.

  • Honey crisp apples are amazing, I get the 4lb bag at Costco and they are gone in under a week.

  • Honestly would love something like this for lemmy. On old reddit I had a enhancement suite script that tagged know bad actors so I could filter them out/add grains of salt. But instead of like on Bluesky where you subscribe to a list managed by someone else, I'd like a local filter that I can apply and won't update until I update it.

  • I work in web dev today because of what I learned making Neopets profiles. I used to create HTML that others could copy and paste in to their profile and even sold a few custom profiles for a paintbrush or two. It starts with HTML and figuring out how to host images for teenagers and it leads to building enterprise scale websites and applications for multi million dollar companies. I honestly love what I do, and I can thank Neopets for introducing it to me.

  • Now do it again with no eyebrows

  • Its a big deal because, aside from everything else, any construction on any government owned buildings requires a approval process that has not been done. This approval process is because the US taxpayers own this building, the president does not. They (the administration) are claiming that only "construction" needs to be approved and "demolition" does not, this is why they went ahead and started this project without approval.

  • Well since the construction project hasn't actually been approved thru the official channels yet I would say the chances of this are pretty high because it gives him a great excuse to not pay them.

  • Unions and Government jobs have pensions. But if you have a 401k or any type of IRA, the same people who invest pensions are also doing that investing for you if you aren't managing it ( IE: mutual fund and etfs) and the investments are pretty much the same for both, so if pensions tank, so will your 401k.
