  • There was a very high profile criminal rape trial in Australia this year which was abandoned permanently after one of the jurors was found to have snuck a magazine article into court. See Lerhmann vs Higgins.

That could have been a strategy arranged by the defence. But if you think the judiciary itself corruptly arranged it then think again...

There was a civil defamation trial later where it was found the accused did indeed commit rape "on the balance of probability" (vs the more strict criminal criterion of "beyond reasonable doubt").

So in this Israeli case the worry is now that the leak has damaged the likelihood of punishment for the perpetrators.

  • Also SimpleX although your server probably needs to run in Linux not Android.

  • Sounds good. I would love to get an activist group I run off Facebook. There are hundreds of members but traffic is less than what you describe.

The problem for me is that most of the members are technically illiterate so my next question is: how sophisticated do the clients need to be?

  • How much procesing could it handle though? If it is only a handful of friends then what makes it better than Signal?

Also, cheap second hand laptops are a thing.

I want to believe but I wonder if there is a practical use beyond "this would be cool" (and I do think it is).

  • The server runs on a phone and not a computer? Why?

  • And no bird poop to worry about?

Birds probably killed off by mining pollution long ago. Legend has it they were large, and glossy blue without eyes.

  • They died off because they had trouble finding worms to eat.

  • Good question. Sometimes I forget I am not on Reddit talking to a 12 year old.

  • Same as when a bird shits in the dam you drink water from.

You could either filter this for drinking or use it directly for washing and garden.

  • (1) Swartz didn't share the files. Maybe he would have but when he earlier slurped the legal library it was to provide an indexing capability.

    (2) He wasn't a founder of Reddit (but was an early developer).

The excellent documentary on him is online for free (watch it before it gets taken down): https://youtu.be/9vz06QO3UkQ

  • Ah, you mean for Canada data sovereignty.

It still does not make sense. Canada could change the law. Other companies abide by local law.

  • Makes sense to me.

I can't make sense of what you wrote.

  • put a VPN condom on before they put their data inside

What if Proton is your VPN?

  • Here in Australia we saw a bigotted Eddie Booth in BBC's Love Thy Neighbour(1972-1976). He was a fanatical Labour supporter. What was that about?

Edit: That was the joke, says AI: "The show's humor relied on the irony of Eddie's political alignment versus his personal, racist attitudes."

  • I heard good things about Labour post war (from Gary's Economics) but put it down to war recovery.

Didn't know about the other terms, thanks. That's quite a list of achievements.

  • "No true Scotsman..."

Which party, anywhere in the world, has been true to their word once in power?

  • 😂

  • Australia and UK are at the forefront of Internet ID control and both are Labor/Labour party led.
