  • ente is an e2ee photo storage that has on-device ML. The AI is "ok." It can generally find what I'm looking for with some false positives thrown in. Not as good as Google's super computers, but it runs on device and is fully open-source, so I'm happy to use it.

  • That's not fair. We also use it to weigh drugs

  • This is the way. My Brother laserjet is 15 years old and still kicking!

    The one time a year you need to print photos, go to a FedEx Office or CVS.

  • The problem is the only alternative (on phones) is handing over all my data to Google, the world’s largest ad company. I’m not sure that’s better…

    Desktop is easy. Install Linux. But on phones, there’s 2 bad realistic choices.

  • Codeberg only allows open source licensed code. If you’re working on non-free software you could self host Codeberg’s underlying software, or SourceHut is a different but other good option too.

  • I have a Brother laserjet I got on Amazon for $70 10 years ago. I print on it occasionally, and it always works. That thing has never needed new toner. It never jams. It just keeps going. Highly recommend finding a basic laserjet model from that brand.
