  • Personally I do my goddamn best to make sure I understand what the other person is talking about. I'm sorry you have to deal with that with what sounds like fucking everyone in your life. That sounds truly awful, and I would probably just stop talking to people after trying so hard like that (hey, wait a second...).

One time I was talking with my therapist, and she complimented me on how I didn't talk over her or interrupt and actually listened to what she had to say which made me a bit confused, like, people actually do that? In a therapy session even? But thinking back, yeah, a lot of people I've been around, even those I considered friends and generally nice people, often didn't have the patience to hold a conversation past a certain point unless they were inebriated (and by then they were talking about nothing). So yeah, it's not you. That's just people, and I think especially recently with all the horrible things happening and being amplified by media networks; it can be too much so they just want to go home and forget. They don't want to give people enough time to express themselves, maybe they think it's dangerous, albeit unconsciously. I would think this is especially true in the states, in it's current state (hah).

Well, that's just my ramblings in response to yours. Light and beauty, fren.

  • Good points lol.

As for the game itself; well, I suppose I enjoy it more often then not. I mean, I keep playing it despite some truly distressing interactions. I do use the mute button quite liberally, and have abandoned matches because I'm just not in the mood to deal with that sometimes, mute button or no. Still, I keep coming back because more often then you'd think I have a truly wonderful experience with both teams actually having fun and enjoying themselves despite losing. Those kinds of matches aren't that rare, though of course the most common is when no one says anything except with the voiced pings, which maybe I should be thankful for.

There are also the balancing and matchmaking issues which can make some matches a total slog because you get absolutely stomped by really high ranked players. Sometimes you're on team that's doing the stomping though, and you just basically do nothing all match. I hope it these are fixed soon, but who knows.

  • We all know what AI is doing to the workforce

    Do we?

    https://budgetlab.yale.edu/research/evaluating-impact-ai-labor-market-current-state-affairs

    Summary

While anxiety over the effects of AI on today’s labor market is widespread, our data suggests it remains largely speculative. The picture of AI’s impact on the labor market that emerges from our data is one that largely reflects stability, not major disruption at an economy-wide level. While generative AI looks likely to join the ranks of transformative, general purpose technologies, it is too soon to tell how disruptive the technology will be to jobs. The lack of widespread impacts at this early stage is not unlike the pace of change with previous periods of technological disruption. Preregistering areas where we would expect to see the impact and continuing to monitor monthly impacts will help us distinguish rumor from fact.

*The narrative that AI's are causing job loss is a marketing strategy performed by the AI companies to boost their recognition through fear.

  • I love giving head scritches when kitties are napping like this. One of my cats loved it and would usually fall deeper into sleep after stretching into it.

  • no eep for teh hornxy

  • It's starches are being broken down and used in glycolysis before you had a chance to. The bastards stole it from you. Burn them.

  • Thicc AF

  • I was reminded of Claptrap the other day and this song got stuck in my head.

  • I think some of those people have simply lost trust in the establishment and likely for good reason. I've known some kids that were put in horrible juvenile detention centres which caused them life long trauma, not to mention all the survivors of the residential schools in Canada; in those instances I can totally understand. To them I suspect filling out a ballot would cause them physical pain so when someone tells them to vote all they feel is revulsion.

Outside of situations like that, I truly don't know. Maybe a high degree of apathy and privilege?

  • 😭

  • I only tried to use gamescope as a launch option, but that made it so at least one of the games wouldn't launch. I've not tried with others though or installing it through apt. So far switching to kde has done the trick, so not going to try fixing a problem that isn't there anymore (so far).
