  • There are two and only two things that makes Epic Games a pariah.

    (1)Exclusive content on PC should be shunned so hard that it's not even a fucking option. You can explain away exclusively on PS3 because of its unique hardware, but it's just a naked monopolistic power grab on PC.

    (2) Epic game store sucks on every level. It's a pigs 3 week old rotting corpse compared to Valve's packaged ham.

  • Yeah, but Valve doesn't really give a shit if it's abused. Steam is a solitary positive example of the weird "(mostly)benevolent monopoly" idea. GabeN owns the company, there aren't any shareholders to appease, so as long as he's alive steam will be solid. I hope he has a successor picked out that can uphold his ideals.

    If you'd prefer your company to have voting rights, you can file in Rhode Island, and your company can vote in local and state elections without ever stepping foot in the state. Hooray late stage capitalism 😞

  • This. Leftist candidates won't be viable until far right candidates aren't. We're choosing between "I'll be a dictator" vs "democracy will continue" and the fascist is a likely outcome. The window has to move left to "democracy will continue" vs "maybe we can make things better". If you're holding out for a communist to be elected, that ain't happening in our lifetime. The revolution is not coming. Revolution only comes when life is utterly intolerable and the capitalists know better than to let that happen.

    Our only real hope is to shift things that way over generations.

  • Because the overwhelming majority won't wear out at 100k miles. ICE cars have engine failures early as well, so why are we picking on EVs? I just had to put my car in the dumpster at 112k because the head gasket failed and replacing it would cost 6 fucking thousand dollars!

    Meanwhile my wife's Prius has 300k on it and the battery is still at 70% capacity.
