  • Signal is private, what you should differentiate is being anonymous or not. Using your usual phone number is NOT Anonymous but is PRIVATE, as in the content of your messages being only available to you and the person you're talking to

    The way you get a phone number depends on you too, so you can be very much be Anonymous even if signal requires a phone number.

  • If for some reason you want to record a call, make sure to check what the laws around that are in your country, in mine for example you have to tell the other person you're recording, but I believe you don't have to if you're talking to a company you are paying for some service for example

  • What that user pointed out is, that it has "ties to a fascist company". But in my opinion;

    • A government can have ties to a communist leader or organization, and still not be a communist government.
    • A project can have ties to an anarchist and that still won't make the project be anarchist.
    • But if a project has ties to a fascist company the project itself turns fascist?

    Pd. I asked for more info because if ties to a company make you fascist, at least the user who commented that should have very good arguments to dictate if NixOS is fascist based on what they know.

    That's like saying, "A community in lemmy has lots of users that come from X anarchist instance, so that Community must now be anarchist!"

  • my best advice is, if at any point you have the time and the will to do so, clean up your online persona, and separate it from your real life

    example, have completely separate mails for banking, governament things, job etc, vs online platforms, crypto wallets, or any other thing that is private, including discord

  • Is it LCD or OLED? I've heard a couple of times people keep the steam deck screen off while docked to prevent burn-in on OLEDs, but idk if that is a real concern with the steamdeck?
