  • they are accepted. as i said, everything is political, and we can not ban everything. if a marginalised group gets better rights, that is absolutely a uplifting news. we want to ban stupid news, like so and so leader lost/imposed so anad so orders.

  • I can not really hate on them depending on popular vote. I would wish if we do not have political stuff, but most of those posts and votes comes from people who are really upset of current us administration, and just venting out

  • schadenfreude

i did not know what the word meant, but looked up, and it is essentially no catharsis, and this is something i also proposed in my post asking for help regarding rules for this sub.

  • i have made you a mod, in case something is wrong (federation does not work well with moderation, and for simplicity, you would have to make a .world account, i did too. many of my mod actions from other account do not federate back), please message

  • i did a post in this community to ask if we should change rules, and got a pretty poor response. in the comments, people said political news can be uplifting, so we have not deleted political stuff. I can not single handedly change the rules

  • i try to check twice a day, can not check while at work or i am asleep. there is a deleted post almost once in 2 days.

  • hence i added that i am not denying you, i expected you meant either with american context, or state specific

  • this is not true in general. I am not denying this, but in india, many indian metropolitans voted for conservative party (we do not have a 2 party system, so it is hard to call 1 party as conservative, but current govt is definitely very conservatives)

  • If it were not patented, it would have been great, but it is still good

  • I never said plastic should be used for clothing, though I am not saying it should not be used. I justt have not studied enough about it. My naive guess is that in general clothing made out of "only" plastic may not be comfortable due to other reasons (surface finish, general stiffness and flexiblity, permeability and what not). And Micro plastics is not a problem unique to plastic (well maybe micro "plastic" is unique to plastic if we are being pedantic), basically all materials undergo abberation, and resultant micro tears or fractures result in micro debris for all products - ceramics, metals (less for metals due to some other reasons, what you usually get corrosion products) and plastics. And in general all these micro "things" are harmful to us, some more some less (due to the fact that we are not isolated, we have intakes (breathing, feeding, drinking, and general absorption, and then eventual accumulation - which may result in damages, for example, absestos, is basically micro silica, binds alveoli). In fact (not very rigorus statement, more of a statement on whole classes instead of extreme cases) among these micro "things" - micro plastics would likely be least harmful because of "almost" inert nature of plastics

Though I completely agree with your narrow part (contained is not necessary due to above stated reasons, basically it is unavoidable). And I also agree with your part of alternatives that don't last forever, and clothing, or packaging in general is indeed the best use case for this

  • plastic is not unnecessary - it is genuinely wonderful, we just have to learn to use it only for stuff which is meant to stay, and not just single use and throw

  • take my upvoote and get out of here
