  • I just finished (rolled the credits) Death Stranding last night after right around 100 hours play time. I wasn't so sure about it going in but the gameplay loop of delivering packages really hit well with me. I thought the random boss encounters were a bit clunky but luckily they were pretty easy. I'm guessing that was by design since it's not really a combat game overall. The story is confusing as hell and I'll probably spend some hours watching YouTube videos trying to understand what happened.

I may end up going back to do more road building and stuff in Death Stranding but I'll be starting RE Village tonight for my "Spooktober" game. I love the rest of the series and finally picked this one up on a recent sale so I'm excited to get into it.

  • I've beaten all the souls games multiple times but I got stuck in DD pretty early on and just quit out of frustration. I've been meaning to go back but I do think it actually is that hard.

  • I've been really digging Death Stranding. It's kind of a silly concept of just delivering packages all over the map but it seems to be scratching some itch I didn't even know I had. I like that I can pick it up for a delivery or two as my real life schedule allows and then randomly sometimes I actually progress the story or unlock a new tool to make my courier job easier. I'm only vaguely aware of the story but it's enough to get me to actually watch the cutscenes even if I'm confused the whole time.

Overall I'd recommend at least trying it out for a few hours since it's one that I never thought I'd enjoy but I've been proven wrong.

  • I decided to take a break from BG3 and started playing the first Death Stranding. I'm still pretty early in the game but it's already got me intrigued. The story is way out there and I hope it all comes together to make sense at some point.

  • I finally got Mario Kart 8 on the switch. It's a blast playing with my kids and showing no mercy 😈.

I also installed the Jupiter Hell Classic demo (a demake of a remake of a roguelike unmake of Doom.) I enjoy it but similar to Jupiter Hell I'm pretty terrible at it so far. It's definitely worth a look if you're a roguelike fan. You can play the original unmake DRL (Doom: the roguelike) for free, or also try the demo for JHC on steam.

  • I just got a psvr2 and picked up Arizona Sunshine remake. It's really cool so far except I die so often because I just cannot get the hang of manually reloading the clips. Half the time I just toss the clip on the ground and the other half I toss the gun down. I hope I'd do better if there was ever an irl zombie takeover.

  • I picked up Balders Gate 3 on a recent sale to see what all the hubbub was about. I nearly gave up on it after about the first 10 hours but soon after that it finally clicked for me and I've been having a blast. I think I'm only about 30 hours in right now and I hear it's easily 100+ hours so hopefully the ride remains this fun for the duration.

  • My kids are 5 and 7. The 7 year old is able to do most of the game on her own but there are definitely frustrating sections for her. My 5 year old isn't shy about handing the controller to me when he needs help. I think 7 is a perfect age for getting into the game mechanics but the subject matter may raise awkward questions.

  • I've completed this game twice with my kids. By far the most requested game they want to play because of the coop. The subject matter might be a little deep for their age but the gameplay is stellar.

  • I just picked up Hogwarts Legacy on the recent PlayStation sale. Haven't made it too far in yet but I can tell this game will eat up some hours.

  • Elden Ring to get a new character ready for the DLC. Picked up Symphony of War: The Nephilim Saga on a recent sale. Still only a few hours in so just now getting into some of the more complex squad builds. Seems like there will be tons of ways to customize the squads, I anticipate many more hours spent.
