  • It is Ryan Gosling. I can’t tie the attire to any particular character of his, but it seems like it may have just been promo shots taken by and for GQ magazine

  • Fediverse OP probably nicked the image from Reddit or somewhere else, given that you saw Reddit links alongside this image in your web search

  • Re: your edit

Google will sometimes show results from Reddit but ultimately link to a different post. AFAIK, the content that Google says is on the page may actually be content that is either from related posts shown on the Reddit mobile site or from another post somewhere on the subreddit (or maybe just somewhere else on Reddit entirely?). The timestamp that Google gives seems to be from when the linked post was made (with some discrepancies as to when Google and Reddit decide to round up or down in terms of unit time)

  • To me, a new image rather than a touch up seems more likely. It just feels like there’s too much Gandhi mixed in the original post.

  • Isolated moments of reason are not due to institutions of unreason. Rather, they are in spite of them.

  • The only reason we have the Emancipation Proclamation is because of institutionalized slavery

  • That is a suspiciously high resolution photo of a man who died in 1947. The odd camera focus, general glisteningness, (and odd framing?) and the lack of any matching results in reverse image searching makes me think that somebody may have used AI to produce an image of that which could easily be found with a moment’s search online. Is anybody able to find a source on this image?

  • IBM lied. Machines are accountable by simply not using them if they are an encumbrance, and then you hold the person(s) who decided to apply those machines accountable. If more money, time, and/or effort is expended to have a machine produce an output and also have a human alter that output than would be expended to simply have a human do everything, then simply choose the latter.

  • Why would your boss pay you when you don’t even do the work or posses the skills? Sounds like the middleman will get cut once the person paying for the work to be done realizes that they don’t have to pay a person for the work to get done

  • My guess is that it’s an offshoot of the Scunthorpe Problem. My theory (without hard evidence) is that Bing/DDG have a blacklist of terms to completely filter out from results, but a whitelist of words that contain those terms which are exceptions to the filter. This would explain why “torpedo” is ok but less common terms like “Sharpedo” wouldn’t be individually flagged as ok. You’d have to find other examples with other blocked words to test this idea.
