nah I find it boring now and it turns into a mess very quickly. only reason I was on Arch is cause i needed a "vacation" from NixOS to get a project done. project is done so went back to NixOS.
yeah I don't bother with DDG anymore. used to love it but now it's just hot garbage. Now I just use a 4get instance and for news just use the brutalist report and spike.news
I'm currently using Niri and sure it's not a DE it does an excellent job of workspaces. each monitor has its own set of workspaces by default, no configuration needed.
I don't use Dank Material Shell or any of that but in all honesty if you wrap Niri in DMS or something like it then it actually becomes a near perfect DE. Even the Niri devs now suggest you install Niri with DMS.
pretty much. DDG for example uses a bing-yahoo "alliance thing" (can't remember what it's officially called but Microsoft and Yahoo have a sort of partnership in this regard).
Your options for actual first party search options are literally pretty much the ones you listed. Yandex is russian so not trusting those guys anymore than I trust Google or Microsoft so that just leaves Yahoo which is...yeah.
Honestly people are just better off using something like SearX or 4Get. they're all the same except with those two you're not going to get the AI slop or ads.
I know a guy that has a @linux.com email address. And yes putting that email address on his CV and Linkedin has resulted in him getting emails daily from companies asking if he'd be interested in a position or interview. He's even had people just straight up offer him a job because of it.
Note though he's a web developer and pretty much all the jobs offered or interviews etc are for positions out of his skillset i.e. system admin, server manager, IT, data analyst, etc. because they all see the linux part and figure he can run a server or something.
I don't know what it's like in Houston but here in Toronto the entire food delivery industry would pretty much come to a stand still without e-bikes. do they kill people? no. are they dangerous? I'm sorry but with the way some of those dudes drive those things on sidewalks and the amount of times i've seen them hit people...yeah. We've also had a few literally blow up on commuter trains to the point where we out right banned them on trains.
There's more to this that I don't think people realize. no they don't kill people but yes they do cause accidents because of the people driving them and feeling like they can ride them on sidewalks or...you know...the batteries will randomly explode.
All KDE has to do, literally all they have to do, is make dedicated virtual desktops/workspaces per monitor and i'd be happy. that's it. I would daily drive Plasma if they just did that.
had this happen to me with EVE Online. What DE/WM are you using? If it's a wayland one are you using xwayland-satellite?
This issue would only happen to me with WMs like Hyprland, Niri, Sway, etc. on KDE Plasma didn't happen. the solution I found at least for Niri was ensuring xwayland-satellite was installed AND run the game in window mode.
