I live in Canada and as far as political news goes here...it's dreadfully boring and I imagine it's the same for most of Europe. It's always been like that. even regular news here it's boring. nothing dramatic happens because unlike the US most of the world has their shit together when compared to the US.

oh good lord no. years, decades, centuries even couples have trusted each other WITHOUT the need to tracking their where abouts. suddenly this is something we need? no it isn't. but sure, you go ahead and slap a tag on your "loved one" so you know where they are at all times and so will whatever company is selling your data from said tag.
if you use vim or emacs a lot like I do it's kind of a natural progression. I also absolutely hate using the track/touchpad on my laptop, I just despise it, so with this I dont' have to use it or even my mouse. I only ever use the mouse if I'm gaming. I also use qutebrowser so, again, not using the touchpad/mouse.
Once you remove the use of a touchpad/mouse you'll be surprised how much faster you can navigate around.
The reason why I worked on this is because I liked ratpoison and cagebreak but there were things I wanted that those didn't provide like the use of a launcher (since I use qutebrowser I need either rofi or dmenu for password management), notifications for emails, I like having a wallpaper, etc. and If I want to game a little bit using cagebreak wasn't practical for it.
for my dev work it does improve my workflow. It's a very niche WM and not for everyone but it's fun to work on and get experience building these things as I've never done it before.
All MS needs to do is cook their frogs (users) slowly, over years, and MS will be just fine and can add whatever they want.
They've been doing that for decades and if you're still a MS user at this point you're well over cooked.
I remember in the 90s when people raised a fuss about IE being the default browser. Nothing changed. Nothing is going to change. for the majority of users what's your option? you go to Apple where they'll pull the same shit. a very small percentage (and yes it is growing) will just switch to Linux.

yeah CachyOS is a fantastic introduction to Arch. It's by far my favourite distro and I recommend it for new users. If I don't feel like doing an arch install, I just install CachyOS. always have an up to date ISO of it on my ventoy.
it's a lot better now to the point you don't even need to search for drivers. I can't even recall the last time I had to search for drivers on Linux, it just has them and some people have even made drivers for the most obscure things that not even windows supports anymore. Hell a couple months ago I found a driver someone made for something called a "Dex Drive" which was an old dongle for Playstation Memory cards.
Linux is 10x easier today. Even running windows programs is a hell of a lot easier and in many cases work the exact same way as on Windows. double click the exe, install it, you're good to go.
