  • I am forgetting the name but there was a service you could use with home assistant alarm integrations that would work like a remote monitoring service, home assistant would ping them and they would operate like a normal alarm company trying to contact you and contacting the police.

  • It's a road usage tax, so yes. Fuel was the easiest way to do it but that has drastically reduced with fuel efficiency pushes. Really every vehicle should be paying by miles traveled as that is a more accurate measure of road usage.

    Many places provide huge up front purchase credits for EVs. Exemptions for road use would be a double credit. In addition it would discourage public transit use by subsidizing car usage. Where possible public transit use instead of cars is a way bigger societal benefit. Before we stop charging road taxes to EV users all public transit should be free to use.

    Solution. Charge all cars by the mile, charge more, make public transit free. Maximum societal benefit achieved.
