I wear the downvotes of terrorists and terrorist adjacent like a badge of honor. I wish I could display them as my avatar.
The key to reducing the worry is that Lemmy is a super tiny insignificant community. And worldnews even more so, this is what insular communities do. They circle jerk propaganda and radacalize and rile each other up as a key core loop. Meanwhile rebuffing any facts, reason, or reality.
I really feel it's Iran who's been doing everything it can to broaden the war and make itself a target. But I don't understand why.
This is in response to all their attacks through various proxies such as Houthis, Hamas, Hezbolla, Iraq, Syria, etc.
Honestly, I'd love to see the Islamic Republic fall. I feel terrible for the citizens of Iran who once were some of the most progressive and secular in the region. Sooner the guard and government there are removed the better.
When you have a group, like WorldNews, that is as radicalized by shock photos and even fake propaganda--reason and critical thought aren't welcome. If the only thing someone can see is a targeted picture of a hurt or dead kid, then they won't be able to hear.
It's the core of the Hamas propaganda program and why they seek maximum civilian casualties while living as millionaires in Qatar, the state who own and push the radicalizing stories they publish through Al Jazeera.
I appreciate your efforts, though, and I am sorry for the inevitable downvotes.
I believe you're being earnest so I'm giving you the best information I have and doing my best to explain here.
For one thing Al Jazeera is literally owned by Quatar who funds and is allied with Hamas. The Hamas leadership all live there, as millionaires, under the protection of the state that owns the media outlet.
This is why their Media Bias Fact check is notably lower than Haaretz. Medium credibility vs. High credibility
Secondly, Haaretz is not owned by the Israeli government. Which not being state owned automatically gives it a credibility edge.
Personally, I do not like Haaretz, they are too soft on the conflict for me. But I don't dispute the veracity of their journalism.
Al Jazeera though is just a state run propaganda machine for Qatar and Hamas.
EDIT and PS: For non Israeli/Hamas war, Al Jazeera isn't as bad, for things they have no stake in its slightly better in it's journalism. Same way you'd NEVER go to the BBC for info on the UK.
No shit, a journalist goes into the densest urban fighting of our time and gets killed, goddammed shocking. Especially one's seeking to interview the terrorists who must be eliminated.
There wouldn't even be a Bibi without them. He would have lost, and Perez would have moved forward with two states and Arafat (who Hamas would have also had a harder time removing).
The bottom line is I think we can agree they're bedfellows, yeah? Hamas has been trying to make this conflict happen their entire existence. They want maximum Palestian casualties in the hopes of expanding the war to more nations than just their allies like Quatar, Iran, and the Houthis.
Never look to me to defend Bibi and the Likud. Many war criminals there I'd like to see taken to the Hague.
You diminish the term genocide when you misuse it. And yes, Hamas murdering 18,000 civilians by using them as shields and intentionally trying to force as many civilian casualties as possible is horrific. It's part of why I support hunting them all down and killing them.
