  • "but hey" is a colloquial conjunction phrase in American English. It's usually used to indicate that the previous clause had a valid concern or made a good point, but the speaker is choosing to make light of it in order to disregard it despite knowing better, because they shortsightedly want the outcome described in the clause that follows.

    Another example: "My doctor told me to watch my weight, but hey, it's Christmas and those cookies look fantastic."

    • People who spend more time online will be exposed to more scams, and therefore are more likely to fall for one. If you don't see any scams because you don't know how to open "the internet", you won't see scams you can fall for.
    • Gen Z could just be more likely to self report. Self-reporting fault or failure is less socially acceptable among the culture of the boomer generation. Entirely possible Boomers are just lying or not self-reporting.

  • The story behind this is that Goodreads is actually owned by Amazon. They acquired it a long time ago hoping to use it as a way to drive book sales. The tl;dr is that it didn't work, Goodreads never made money, and over the past 2-3 years Amazon has slashed its budget.

    The site is now run by a skeleton crew that aren't enough people to even keep the basics running. Amazon is happy to watch it wither and die, its cheaper than shutting it down.
