Do elder statesmen like Obama bother mentoring or training their “replacements”? Seems like we would have more Obama’s in the pipeline if that was the case.
I doubt it really has much to do with AI. The economy is in the toilet right now due to tariffs and severe mismanagement. AI is being used as a scapegoat for layoffs and unemployment.
Gotta have a government-recognized binding contract so your spouse can make legal decisions for you. Call it whatever you want (marriage cert, domestic partner) but it has to be the same for all people under the law.
This is part of what the fight for marriage equality was all about. Spouses were unable to see their partners in the hospital, or get custody of children, or inherit, etc. etc. Some people tried to draw up legal agreements, but they ran into obstacles with other family members taking them to court. Remember, “Separate, but equal is inherently unequal.”
The website you linked to says that it’s not a class action suit, but a “mass arbitration” which I’ve never heard of. It also claims that Google has a “no class action” clause in its warranty/user agreement. I don’t see how that’s legal, but whatever. I also wonder if that clause was there at the time of purchase for gen 1 and gen 2 thermostats.
While an interesting idea, that project wants what amounts to the cost of a new thermostat in exchange for a kickstarter project. Might as well just buy a new thermostat.
Was hoping something like Homebridge could be used to still control these, but so far no luck. After the cutoff they can be used manually like a traditional thermostat, which is a surprise coming from Google. I still fear they are going to generate a bunch of ewaste from people replacing them.
These people for some reason think it’s a leadership failure when there’s an outbreak of something. When in fact the failure to lead is in hiding it rather than dealing with it head on.
To make more electricity, they should try using some of the hot air that constantly comes out of Nadella’s mouth.
