  • No, it is federal-sanctioned.

  • So, the question becomes: does a particular charity have a shortage of tech people working for them or a shortage of money? Which would be easier to get?

  • Trump is only serious about it because if Canada isn't part of the United States, Vice President Musk can never take over when he is gone.

  • Which means it has the third largest number of representatives, right?

  • Because that worked so well with the Reform party in the UK.

  • It's like invading Iraq when a bunch of Saudis that hate Iraq attack you. You have to ask yourself "is this exactly what they want me to do?" And then "If I want my revenge, whom should I attack and how?"

Attacking federal workers on behalf of Trump is not the way to "Stand up to Trump"

  • Donald Trump wants the courts to stop overturning his random EOs. A shutdown would close the courts.

  • Can't loose something you never had.

  • This is the CR. This allows for more time to work on that budget... which only needs 51 votes because of reconciliation.

  • Someone should ask Trump if he is successful with this and deporting permanent residents for being against the government, what would stop the next president from deporting Baron Trump?

  • As I said in the other thread, Republicans could have waited a week or two, got their act together on the budget reconciliation bill and then reopened the government without a single democratic senator. Closing the government hurts democratic interests and the republicans reopening it without democratic votes doesn't help democratic interests either.

We already have a party that is know for being stubborn, hurting it's own constituents, and not getting anything in return besides it's base praising how tough they look - we don't need a second one.

  • The Republicans have a once per year "Trump" card called budget reconciliation that only takes 51 senate votes. Right now the republican senators are worried about deficits and whatnot, otherwise they would have already used it. If the CR is filibustered, the government will shutdown until 51 republican senators can get their act together and pass the reconciliation without democratic support.

It will very much look like democrats shutdown the government and republicans alone opened it back up. Best to grow a backbone after the once per year thing is used up and they don't have the option of just ignoring you.

  • Wait, I though the man survived a record 100 days and then got a normal heart. Is this the same guy or a different one?

  • Would a shutdown slow down or speed up the fascist takeover?

  • To be fair, it wasn't Trump doing this same shit before 2016, it was Bush, and before that Reagan and before that....

  • Are CRs exempt from filibuster rules, and are there 8 democratic senators willing to buck the party to kiss Trump's ass? Fetterman and ...

  • Musk found out that the most recent batch had battery issues where they would spontaneously explode.

So he paid a bunch of arsonists to go out an torch a bunch of Cybertrucks so that he could have plausible deniability.
