  • This reminds me a bit on the Ford CEO Jim Farley who has been claiming that China is too far ahead and the Western car industry is doomed. Reports often with the same quotes circulate also here on Lemmy, many of them posted by OP. It's the same "Europe bad, China good" narrative all the time.

  • Sometimes it's hard to portray satire and sarcasm over the web. Just look at OP's post history, their contributions have all the same anti-European, pro-China/pro-Russia spin.

My question was rhetorical, I apologize for the confusion ;-)

  • Does the pro-Russian propaganda in Poland pay off, as the report form June this year says:

Telegram channel Polska Grupa Informacyjna, one of 22 Polish-language channels, with more than 150,000 subscribers between them, that ... has [been] identified as sharing various forms of pro-Russian disinformation and propaganda.

Telegram is not widely used in Poland, but experts say false messages on it are amplified among extremist groups and then spread on to other platforms that have a bigger reach.

I feel somehow they are also spread on Lemmy.

  • @schizoidman

There is Finland, a country that was committed to neutrality since WWII. Then, in 2023, it joined Nato, and now this. I am wondering why this is?

  • These are empty labels, it's a corrupted government imo. And the economic boom in Spain is non-existent if we look a bit closer, at least that's what practically all economists say. The linked report makes its inference from a the consumer credits.

  • Is here a socialist party in Spain?

  • @optissima

When did Russia say they want to invade Ukraine before they did it? When did any aggressor openly announced something like that?

As others have said in this thread, the aggressor uses its own narratives, but the messages is clear. And it may never have been so clear as in the case of China which is openly threatening Taiwan with invasion.

In October this year, at the Chinese Communist Party congress, the party-state leader Xi Jinping openly said that they are "not committed to abandoning the use of force and we reserve the option to take all necessary measures" for what he calls the "reunification" with Taiwan. (It can, of course, never be a reunification as Taiwan was never part of China.)

Two weeks later, Peng Qing'en, a spokesperson for China's Taiwan Affairs Office, echoed this by saying that "we absolutely will not renounce the use of force and reserve the option to take all necessary measures."

I guess "all necessary measures" means all necessary measures.

In November this year, a Chinese diplomat made a comment which can only be interpreted as a threat to behead Japanese PM Takaichi over her support for Taiwan.

In 2023, then Chinese ambassador to Japan threatened, “The Japanese people will be led into the pit of fire” if Tokyo decides to stand with Taiwan.

As others have already said, Taiwan is not the only Chinese target. In December 2024, for example, a video was circulating on Chinese social media that shows how China should conquer parts of Siberia up to lake Baikal.

A few weeks ago, an Indian woman was detained in Shanghai because her place of birth - a region in Northwestern India - is claimed by Beijing as "Chinese territory."

At few days ago, civilian Filipino ships have been attacked by China's coast guards that injured several people.

There is a sheer endless list of aggressive behaviour by China against practically literally all its neighbours, you'll easily find reports if you want to.

  • Countries have been facing strong headwinds in Germany and practically all countries, at least in the larger economies. But European economies seem to be a bit better positioned than their peers in other parts of the world. Just wait what happens in China if domestic consumption doesn't get up soon. The country is facing its first asset investment decline in 30 years, its domestic property market - usually contributing ~20 percent of the country's GDP - has been increasingly facing troubles with bankruptcies of companies that were once seen as 'role models' for China's economic strength.

The current issues in Germany and Europe are strong reason for a further de-risking policy and a re-industrialization, producing more on the continent rather than betting in cheap imports.

  • This has nothing to do with our "ally" in the West, nor any "ally." This is about China which apparently acts as an enemy of Europe that goes far beyond this cyberattack. The fact that the US gets worse doesn't make China in any way better.

  • You may not know this, but the site 'news-pravda .com' is part of a Russian disinformation network. Versions of this site exist in several languages with URL being xxx . news-pravda . com (with xxx naming the country).

It is active since May 2024. Here is a brief report.

  • You can install a 'Europe only' solar system on your house for a price 15-20% higher than systems using Chinese and/or U.S. parts.

  • homeowner wants solar panels on their roof because it's an investment which will effectively double your money within 20 years

Investments by private persons in solar roof tops depend on a variety of factors, but at least in Western Europe they break even much sooner than 20 years (if this is what you mean, I don't understand what 'double the money' should mean in this context).

european hardware which is 100-150% more expensive than chinese hardware which also excels in functionality.

This is false. It would be interesting to know where you got this number from. A recent "Not made in China" auction in Italy ended up in a tariff that was 17% higher than the average price for a renewable auction earlier this year with no such a restriction. This number is also what I would say is reasonable for the average home owner in the West. And it's definitely worth the price.

  • I hope for a "Only made in Europe" auction soon, but it's a huge step in the right direction.
