  • 40's, nothing noticeable with illnesses, with injuries it is like they hurt more now but I think it has more to do with that I weight 15kilos more than 20 years ago. I'm in a good path losing weight, with any luck I'll notice a difference.

  • No.

But if you ask instead, Do you watch movies/tv shows while doing something else? Then answer is yes, all the time. Mostly during chores like cleaning dishes or ironing but sometimes also doing puzzles, origami or whatever.

  • Yes, and some people manage to make it slightly worse by trying to be correct saying figuratively instead. You don't need to add that!

  • Oh there's one I hate to no end.

To make a superlative, in Spain there's this sentence that it has become popular:

[whatever adjective]? not, the next thingTall? Not, the next thingDifficult? Not, the next thingExpensive? Not, the next thingBlue? Not, the next thing

What the fuck is the next thing?

It was uninspired 15 years ago, now is just infuriating when you hear it five times in the same conversation.

  • I use it

  • You just described most bars in Spain.

  • Maybe they care more about their quality of life than their life span. I my opinion it is the other way around, the socially acceptable cruelty is to have them confined their entire lives, doesn't matter how big and comfortable is the cage.

  • Why is an outdoor cat animal cruelty?

  • Antartix Linux?

  • I can understand their attitude, I don't share it but I can understand it.

It is quite hard to try new books when you're not sure what you might like, it is trial and error with each trial requiring a commitment of a few hours.

I agree with audiobooks, they are a easier to get into just because they don't require to stop everything and allow to do other stuff at the same time.

  • I live in Spain, when I started to use an umbrella in my way to work during the worst days of summer I expected to receive weird looks, nope, a couple neighbours even copied me.

  • But why do I remember my own number? Because Igive it to people, I write it down in all sort of forms and every time I register somewhere. I actively use the actual number all the time.I have a work phone that I only use at work, everyone that needs to have that number already have it and I don't use it for anything else. I have no idea what it is its number since I never had to call to it or give it to anyone.

  • With phone books we don't memorise phone numbers, but we still have to read them a dial them and after a few times we don't need to look them up anymore. With drawn map we still have to look around and make sure we are correct intersection.

They don't prevent us from remembering stuff, it's the things that we used to do that helped us to remember and we don't do anymore.

  • For that money I would be repeating the words all day like a mantra in order to not forget them. I want to think I could last at least one month.

  • We didn't stop remembering phone numbers because our phones remembers them for us, we stopped remembering numbers because we stopped dialing them, back then there was this joke about not knowing your own number, why should I know my own number? I never call myself, and when I do I always get a busy signal. We don't even get to see the numbers, we have to make an extra effort to memorise numbers when we used to just know them after dialing them every day.

With GPS is something similar, we have trouble remembering how to get from point A to point B because GPS substituted landmarks. We turn right when the GPS says so, so we stopped looking for the gas station, the bus stop or the road sign. Again, we need to make an extra effort to pay attention to our surroundings to know when to turn right next time we come without a GPS when before that was just how you learned to get to places. At least for me this is very obvious in video games, every time I deactivate the minimap I don't know how to get anywhere and I start to notice how rich some of the environments are when I stop having one eye fixed in the corner following the yellow line.

So with AI I don't know, probably won't be what it does for us but what we stop doing because of that.

  • Hahaha that must be it.

  • What about parmesan?

  • Hold my helm, I'm go... wait, where's the thing?

  • I hear all the time people saying that it is an attempt to eliminated physical money to track us down. I remember reading somewhere that one of the requisites was to work offline, also for what I see is that the only thing that this is threatening to replace are things like Bizum and small payments with credit and debit cards.
