  • Like apparently everyone else, I moved to Linux Mint and have been loving it! It really is easy to use, but I've also realized that my technical knowledge is at a point where I really don't need it to be easy. Like, I've always considered myself kinda tech illiterate in comparison to the people I'm around (I'm a software engineer who specializes in JavaScript/React, but I'm around Rust devs and people who set up docker containers for fun) but apparently just being comfortable using the console is far above what the average user will do. I think there was an xkcd about this kind of phenomenon

  • Bet you were cheating

  • Hehe stable... like where the horsey lives

  • Yeah, that's what I'm hoping to do with my system too! I'm not even in a bad financial situation rn, I just don't really need that PC asap and don't want to encourage the current market by actually buying at those inflated prices. It's gonna be a very cool setup once DDR5 RAM goes back to being affordable, but in the meantime it's just a very expensive adhd pile on my floor xD

  • This hurts, I finally decided to build my first own PC like 2 months ago, got everything planned out but decided to wait for black friday to actually order all the parts. Now I have everything except RAM and an SSD, because I refuse to pay those prices 🥲 Maybe I'll buy a single second hand 8GB stick just to find out whether my system even boots..

  • Okay but does this statistic include the trains that never arrived? Because DB loves doing that in all their other statistics.

edit: I read the article. It does not. Classic DB haha

  • There's this youtube video where a lady checks the bacterial density that accumulates on a towel as it is used for several days in a row: https://youtu.be/4NWxU5RIUnI

TL;DR is that it's completely fine for the first 9 days or so

  • No, the text never specifies that.

  • bullshit, she's still under her 10k Freibetrag

  • That's just what wfh looks like

  • As for how it compares to the taste of dick - no idea, there are no taste buds in the back of my throat.

  • I was like 21 or 22 when I tried Avocado for the first time. I had plenty of access to it before, but the thought of a Plant being all fat instead of all water freaked me out. I can handle some Avocado nowadays if it's mixed with something (like tomatoes and onions for a nice salsa-ish thing) but no way in hell that I'd eat a raw piece of it. It's a freak of nature and I don't approve of it.

  • The fucking documentation for the libraries we program with, apparently. Everyone else at work either just vibecodes or goes "aw I don't know how to do that, it probably can't be done :c"

  • Kinda, but only because I have 0 commute (job that allows to wfh as much as I want), I don't care about fitness all that much at the moment (I go to the gym maybe twice a week for 1.5h each, followed by like an hour in the sauna every time) and because my side project is also my hobby. I also don't like socializing with anyone but my partner, so it's all quite efficient.

  • Bold to assume that developers who use ai come up with any sort of original game mechanics.

  • Asking the same question a second time after not getting the answer you want is so AI user coded lmao

Yes, focus on yourself and enjoy the silence is the right answer. Being able to entertain yourself is an important life skill.
