    The problem is that, if he wants to be elected, what will get him an easy majority is just not not being Nazi. Chong or Charest could have beaten Trudeau handily.

    This is the problem with courting the Nazi vote: it results in your path to power being Nazification of the rest of the electorate, and your PR ends up being low-brow Triumph of the Will, while your election sloganeering is dogwhistling. Personally, I hope he gets sent packing again and the CPC splits in two.

  • It would cut into the capital available to commercial banks, so of course it won't happen. RBC, TD, CIBC, BMO and Scotia do not want to lose those sweet customer deposits.

    Same reason we don't get public rail and public telecomms: essential services can only be delivered if they make a rich person richer.

    If he leans more into fascism, he'll still lose the general but might keep his job and his seat.

    The path to regulating a cable TV channel is not a straightforward one in the US. If it was, cable news a la Fox would have been in the crosshairs devades ago.
