  • I mostly use them for really simple things like hovering the cursor over something to show a tooltip, or navigating menus in DRG and the inventory in Minecraft.

I realized how much I miss this hybrid approach when I had my 3 month long Genshin Impact phase. Genshin does support either Keyboard and Mouse or controller input, but not both at thw same time, and the menus suffer from mildly inconsistent UI and UX.

  • I think if you cut the player base roughly in half, the players that care for multiplayer titles which don't work on Linux (yet) are also the ones not caring as much about touchpads; while the other half are a different kind of gamer who appreciates or even needs them.

  • it only works with chrome

You're correct, thanks for pointing out.

  • There's this article in a German IT sec blog which compares the more well-known privacy focused ROMs. If you have any way to translate it, you should check it out. It is a really nice addition to the Eylenburg comparison.

i want customization to my os as long as this is possible

I was rocking Ressurection Remix and Xposed on my old Note 4 and customized the hell out of it. I'm on Graphene now and I don't miss it a bit. Maybe a little.

Graphene can be installed on your phone via a web browser on a PC on laptop. You should install it and try it out, it's very easy.

  • I have spent the last 20 minutes trying to come up with a reply to this, but I just can't get my head around it.

imo, if you're interested in a person, acting is always the correct thing to do, because it's the only thing that resolves aforementioned ambiguity. But acting also always involves asking. Asking someone out on a date, or just to meet up. In regards to physical stuff, asking if you can touch or kiss somebody. Is there something I miss here?

  • You don't need SteamOS to game on Linux. I've heard good things about Bazzite, and there other Linux distros that focus on gaming.

  • SteamOS will most likely be deployed on other handheld PCs, not desktop PCs. The handheld PCs that came out in response to the deck's release (or before) usually run Windows.

Android is not bad because Android itself is bad (well... it kinda is but let's just assume it isn't), but because the phone manufacturers lock down their phones' hardware. They do this to force you into their ecosystem. With SteamOS, you already have an ecosystem, which is Steam. There is (at least for now) a clear distinction between Hardware manufacturer and software provider.

For now at least Androidization is nothing you should worry about. Maybe in 10, 20 years. edit: and even then it's never going to be as bad as with the smartphones

  • Those are very common and super easy to propagate via cuttings. Just ask your friends or neighbours if you can get one for free :)

    Pirate a plant today!

  • No need to burn it down it's gonna crumble on its own.

  • I own a Steam Deck too and I can't see a Full HD display being necessary at this form factor/display size. 1280x800 is a bit small, yes, but I really want someone to try 1600x1000 which I theoretically consider the sweet spot if you have slightly beefier graphics to support it. Also FreeSync or something similar would be cool imo.

16GB is just enough. According to a guy who modded his Deck to have 32GB RAM it only reduced stutters in AAA games, but at least 24 GB would be a nice have to be future proof. Keep in mind that the 16GB also hold video memory and games are getting hungrier for VRAM.

RGB lights anywhere are just an unnecessary gimmick. This is but a personal opinion and comes down to preference and taste.

  • Oh trackpads! Nice

    ...

    Windows 11

    16GB RAM

    Full HD

    When will they learn?

  • Lethal dose of amphetamine in healthy humans is like 20mg per kg body weight. How have you been feeling so far, you okay?

  • The guide is on the site they linked. It works, I did it a few times. They have to mirror the LTSC installation files unfortunately, but there's a guide on how to verify they're genuine if you don't trust them.

  • What do you mean by that? You don't lose gaming performance when you use win10 over win11. Why would you?

  • There's Windows 10 LTSC, which gets security updates til 2027. And IoT Enterprise LTSC, which gets security updates until 2032.

"But should you even use those versions?!? They are not meant to be installed on a desktop PC/laptop" - idk, it's either this or Win11.

In a perfect world, shit's created without someone having to create it to make money. A market without middlemen is still a market.
