  • Changing permissions is not the same as bypassing permissions

  • You are in way over your head

Stop now before you get yourself in hot water

  • That is not how permissions work

  • You can't override user permissions. If you could they would be useless

  • Don't bypass your organizational policies

  • Skip NFS and ftp as they cause more problems than they solve

  • I would hire someone who knows what they are doing. It sounds like you are out of your element here which is risky.

To answer your question, you have a few options:

    • Samba
      • Samba is just a SMB server. If you have a local active directory setup use this.
    • SCP
      • this just copies files over a ssh connection
    • Rsync
      • this performs a sync of one directory to the other. It can run over SCP
    • Unison
      • like rsync but two directional. For it to work it needs to track state
    • Syncthing
      • never actually used it but it might be close to what you want.
  • SSH tunneling is really slow and doesn't preserve the source IP

  • You need to rewrite the incoming dest IP address to be the IP of node B. The important part is to make sure the source IP is unaltered. On node B you then would need it to route outbound traffic threw Node A. If sounds really complicated it is because it is.

The easiest solution would be to setup a reverse proxy on Node A and have it forward traffic to Node B. Http has this cool header called X-forwarded-for which will automatically take care of routing.

  • Yes

  • Http doesn't have that much overhead (especially when you want to send things in the MB range)

What kinds of applications are you talking about? Are you thinking TCP/IP connectivity or something slower?

You can build a network mesh out of wireless point to point and 802.11s mesh networks. It is all TCP/IP networking so you can run any application you want over it.

    Edit:

I forgot about HaLow. It is lower bandwidth but it has a much longer range. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IEEE_802.11ah
