  • Why don't Americans plant trees and bushes of stuff that they can eat in their houses instead of having useless grass?

  • Some do. Grass just got into the pop culture as the "proper" look for a residential property. But having fruit trees is amazing, especially in spring when they are all in bloom with flowers.

  • Yes it'll work. The "conditioner" is just a mix of food-grade mineral oil and beeswax. You'll probably want to apply several coats, per the instructions on the bottle. Just note, that stuff isn't a permanent finish, so you'll need to reapply it periodically. Washing with hot water will make you need to reapply it ore frequently, due to it taking the wax out of the finish. You may want to get just mineral oil and finish with that, first, as the wood you used is fairly porous, and you want to have the wood soak up as much of that oil as possible.

  • You can set up NextDNS on the router to cover every device on the network. My family is all over the country, so the app was easier for my use case.

  • If you want cheap and easy, something like NextDNS. Otherwise, your tentative plan works just as well. My family liked NextDNS because all I had to do was have them install an app, enter my code (for the profile I configure for them), and set it to on. The rest was magic, to them.
