  • Every part of the plant except the "berry" (it isn't berry) is toxic.

I want to try eating it but I heard that it isn't that good.

  • I think that at this point they are more of a zombie company than anything else.

Nothing inovative or revolutionary and overpriced for normal people. Even professional teams don't use their components. Only some posh people stuck with them just for the brand name and their business isn't set up for it.

  • I would guess that it may already started to deflate a bit. The truth is that it will pop when the loans won't be paid off so investors and banks starts to backtrack.

I am not worried about Nvidia but cloud providers. The datacenters built to support ai won't have much use when the customers (OpenAI...) will fold.

I don't care about what happens with OpenAI and other AI startups they probably don't survive. Google, Microsoft, Meta... have enough money to lose so it will be bad for them but they will survive it. Hardware manufacturers see the writing on the wall and try to milk the bubble till it lasts so if they play it decently it won't be big issue for them - they are probably the winners in this race whatever happens.

  • Most of the ones run here don't have batteries. It is running on wires only - with battery trolley bus you need bit different wires so you can put the "antenna" up and down when needed. And since the network was built in 50s it didn't made sense to buy the partial ones until few years ago.

  • But I get the appeal of the ebus it just sounds cheaper. One city I won't name started to build trolley bus network again after they got rid of it in 70's (because of metro construction and expansion of trams), but they just doing it bit idiotically by wanting to have like 30% of it on wires and rest run on batteries.

Why? Because the infrastructure is just more expensive upfront.

Will it work? Nobody knows, people that are building it lobby to get it up to at least 50/50 then it is maybe just feasible.

I think that roads and buses have place in the transportation but you just need more options not just that.

  • I am for electrification but I just can't get behind electric buses.

My city made some study last year and the best way forward in terms of public transport is expansion of trolley bus network. With batteries and constant use it just doesn't make much economic sense. If you can build the wiring it is much better in long run. You don't have to have 100% coverage, 70+% is enough for partial battery powered trolley bus, then it starts to be economically feasible in the operating cost sense.

Also they will need to build some kind of metro system - probably as an extension of commuter trains.

  • Non lethal munitions/weapons are not so non lethal as people think.

Crowd control or demonstration control is another complex problem that can't be solved by some magic bullet. It is more psychology game when the police tries to look threatening in place where people can easily overpower them.

  • I bought the cheapest screw in bar plugs I could find, I think it was worth the 2€ investment.

But ngl I really appreciate good janky solutions.

  • Much better than what I managed to do when I was 15yo. I still use the A5 notebook with replaceable pages.

  • I think that if you don't do the same job at some point in time or have really deep insight in the industry/job, you newer know what he's doing.

From my work experience I can say that most work tasks I had wasn't that simple (if I don't count the "human robot" type summer jobs).

Even some simple sounding job titles hide lot of different tasks most people don't talk about or even don't think about.

For example I was brew master in small brewery (3 people including myself) - you would think I was there to only make beer, my boss deals with paperwork, and my colleague is there for maintenance and cleaning. In reality I was more of Jack of all trades - maintanance, planning, cleaning, sanitation, kegging, helped with tasks you wouldn't think about.

And I think business man covers lots of different tasks that are quite boring so I wouldn't mind not knowing about them.

  • That our country will be a shitshow for some time and is heading towards early elections probably next year.

Just sum it up he is convicted of embezzlement of EU funds. So he needed to stay in politics so he doesn't end up in jail. That is true for other party SPD which is bunch of naci nutheads.

So he needs support from 2 other parties to get majority and because both of them know how desperate he is they want something (ministry seat...). Unfortunately they are completely incompatible with each other so it will be fun.

The president said that he won't accept any minister that wants to exit NATO or EU.

The way we are heading is the Slovakia or Hungary route unfortunately. But these elections have silver lining - we got rid of Communist party (hopefully) and the pro democratic block is still quite strong (they lost mandates but not votes because of how is it counter and distributed).

So it's not black and white or complete disaster for EU and our country (which has still strong democracy for now).

  • Last week this happened!

I didn't remember writing the post, nothing offensive I was just asking about good boardgames to play drunk. It was bit surprising seeing the notifications.

  • WD 40 is quite good as a degreeser you can try to dilute it, other quite good chemical to try is ethanol or methanol (whatever is easiest to buy). Didn't tried anything bike specific but some kind of kitchen degreaser worked well too but it is usually some nasty mix with NaOH mixed in it (gloves needed).

  • Even in some EU countries it's not required.

At least in my country (CZ) there are more types of companies some have to disclose earnings, yearly economic outcomes... and some don't have to do it. Even there it is different on how much it is disclosed publicly or only to "shareholders" (owners usually) and how detailed it is.

  • It's already under different name in my country. You will find pretty much the same bike with Van Risel name. So don't worry they just renamed it.

  • Also you can maybe order the bike and get it after they stock it (I think decathlon offers it)

  • I would maybe suggest the Microshift Sword version of this bike you can then get better range (2x10). As of the quality and price it is really solid choice.

With sword you can mix MTB rear derailleur with it so quite nice part cross compatibility.

  • I think there are IoT sims that can only receive SMS.

My friend wanted to make something with them (I think smart thermostat) when the internet wasn't everywhere.
