  • DOS5 here, installed from 5.25" floppies on a tiny HDD and looking at one of those awful shades-of-yellow monitors.

That's if you don't count the computer that didn't have a hard drive and ONLY booted from 3.5" floppy (which was just enough to get a bootable DOS disk and Prince of Persia).

IRQ's were great for choice. You got to your modem, video card, and soundcard and then picked which two would actually work when they all wanted IRQ5 or 7

  • A lot of people in this sub could be put in "potential killer" territory based on the comments made but that doesn't mean they are/were

  • So basically, no good billionaires but maybe good former-billionaires?

Except at some point he would have been between the two - an active billionaire giving away his wealth - and presumably still a good person.

  • Fixed fine on a sliding scale for repeat offenders

  • Ah yes, the "outrage clickbait" that is a known issue and has been the subject of numerous studies by government and reputable institutions both pre and post pandemic.

Guess we should send the border services agency a memo that it's probably only a hundred people and they should remove it from the things they literally screen for, because some Internet genius is sure it's nothing to worry about...

  • That's also not counting the # of people that try and fail.

Border services can turn back people who are pregnant and close to their end-date

  • I'm a bit conflicted in this, because Canada has similar issues with this but it's more "birth tourism" where people from various other countries come here for a limited time - have a child who is entitled to citizenship and all the benefits - and then leave. That child spend decades never setting foot in the country, but still be eligible for a passport, voting rights, and many other such things despite having no significant ties to the country, and neither parent being a citizen

  • Hydroelectric is great where it is available, but it's again limited by landscape and other factors in use

  • Night? Longer periods of cloudy days or storms?

  • You're not LOSING anything if it's capturing already excess energy, which would by its nature be lost if not used at the time of generation

  • Hmmm, piloting a robot body against other robot bodies in war actually sounds kinda cool. Live-fire paintball without the risk of actual injury

  • I've said it before and I'll say it again, this feels like a good place for Hydrogen power to step in.

One of the oft repeated concerns is that generating hydrogen to power vehicles the takes a lot of energy, which often comes from dirty sources.

One of the oft repeated issues for solar (or wind etc) is that it's available at certain times and not in and of itself storable or transportable, so excess is lost.

So, take the excess solar energy, produce hydrogen and store for off-peak times or to distribute.

Seems like a win to me.

  • I dunno, reducing them to being not-billionaires and even not-millionaires would actually be a pretty just sentence IMO. I bet being reduced to a regular Joe would hurt some of them more than the death penalty

  • Well, however you want to put, in terms of control Republicans won The House The Senate The Presidency

So yeah that's a lot. Whether it's because Trump "won" it or the Democrats "lost" it, the end result is going to be pretty heavy

  • Meanwhile Charles Darwin looks on approvingly...

  • They're likely on a list already if that's the case, but it is standing for what they believe in

  • I'll add to that: The PlayStation etc scalpers at least give you a still-new product at the inflated price. The landlords rent it out for additional income and THEN sell it at a profit.

So it's more like buying a PS5 for $500, having somebody rent to play it for $100/mo, then selling it for $800 after a year

  • Old cilantro that's starting to go bad maybe. That has a very "earthy" smell similar to an over-watered plant

  • Well some species do potentially have "genetic memories" so maybe some stuff actually could be
