  • I'm wondering how many are even "people", rather than Russian bots etc

  • Actually, he's such a gun afficiando that he regularly eats bullets for breakfast, but this time accidentally ate a live round which was later set off by stomach acid and propelled in an upward direction at a slight angle.

  • Was he though? Nobody has been arrested and charged yet so for all we know the shooter could be a jilted lover etc. might not even be a "he" for that matter

  • Well, they used to be. Digital locks and built-to-fail (instead of just cheap) components plus decreased component manufacturing is making that less of a thing.

  • Which is fine for their store. But one of the things that used to make Android a more free ecosystem was that you could load apps from 3rd-party sites or stores, including stuff like F-Droid. Some of these apps do things that Google in particular won't like - i.e. circumventing ads/analytics - so having them control who gets signing keys is not good

  • A crazy person no. A cult of crazy people in a compound... yeah rushing can be more dangerous than holding back

  • Yeah, and after having dealt with the "I missed a few updates and then the last one put my files out of sync with my schema" Docker issues, I'm very much happy to use the snap. Been on that a couple years and it's been quite solid, even if I did have to install snapd on my Debian base for it

  • The obvious exception to this is cases of addiction or poor life decisions.

Like if you collect/play Pokemon or whatever as a hobby and are excited to get a rare card, that's great and I'm happy for you.

If you're underwater on your mortgage and your basement is full of beanie-babies - that you're sure will make you rich in the future - but you just won a bid of $1000 for one rare beanie on eBay... yeah I'm not gonna be happy for you I'm gonna recommend talking to a professional

  • Hmmm. I was thinking since sort of flat screen that masquerades as a picture frame. Maybe an AIO device for game streaming.

  • You wouldn't be though. It's 10 hours younger looking (presumably than your actual age, so it doesn't stack)

  • I saw somebody who did a similar project except the games were actually stored locally, and then the "carts" were 3D printed gameart "boxes" with RFID chips that it would read and use to determine what to load.

My TODO lost includes something similar but with 3D barcodes on the boxes which can be read by a small camera

  • But you're not actually losing age in this one, just looking 10 hours younger so it wouldn't really stack.

  • I'm thinking that #7 might be useful in certain policing or security positions, depending on the definition of empty (there's always dust and air).

Got a bunch of containers that need to be inspected? You can cross the ones you can see through off the list.

Also useful for winning the cup-and-ball game

  • Maths

  • Huh. Learning a fun and cool math trick was not on the list of expected outcomes for today, but I'll take it!

  • I mean, would we even be able to tell it apart from his usual rambling?

  • Yeah I agree. I've used PMOS as well as Lineage and Graphene. The latter was the best experience and PMOS was the one that needed the most work, at least to reach any sort of side adoption.

I'm actually looking at something running SailfishOS as my potential happy mid-point, but currently the Jolla phone - which would be my preferred device for this - doesn't seem to shop outside Europe yet.

  • That's kinda about power though. Think about going up a pulling a trailer up a hill with a vehicle that has a small engine versus a bigger one.

The small engine vehicle might make the hill, but it's going up gear lower, rev higher, and probably heat up a bit.

The bigger vehicle will handle the hill and load with more grace, but may also use more fuel in everyday situations or cost more.

BG3 is kinda stretching the Deck's engine (APU), and the fans are running like made to compensate for the heat running at 100% for longer periods. I've a few games that stretch the Deck's capabilities so for those I just stream from my more powerful PC
