Yeah well AI also won’t be a consumer, so in seeking to replace your workers, remember that you are also replacing your consumers. Sowing the seeds of your own destruction.
I do miss the days when I could fully read a news article or a book without flicking through to the next thing, or even watch a tv show or movie without feeling compelled to reach for my phone.
Agree, these are serious problems. I did consider going in to medicine, but realized that after taking on, like you say, a mortgage payment in student loan debt and spending years making little to no money in school, residencies, and internships, that the “doctors” salary was not that high after all. Rather you’ll spend your first several years playing catch up and paying off debt. Not to mention the hours…
By definition, a healthcare system based on insurance can’t be as efficient as a universal system. Profits for healthcare companies and hospitals are wasted resources. Also, why the hell is medical school and residency so selective? They basically cap the number of doctors that we can have. We should be increasing the number of doctors. Create a universal system like every other developed country has. Cut out the waste that is private insurance. We pay way more than anywhere else for worse outcomes.
I left around 2017 when it was clear that it was ruining family relationships through propaganda from Cambridge Analytica and manipulation from Russia over the election.
This was after years of being annoyed at the changes to the platform, which ignored privacy and were user hostile.
By the time I left I had removed the app from my phone years earlier and had an arms length relationship to it.
College makes you think critically. It’s good for society overall when more people go, but college administrators have basically turned these nonprofit organizations into money grubbers that have forsaken their original mission.
This is all a show because Ukraine won’t agree to an end to the war without security guarantees. Its preferred solution is to join NATO, but Putin doesn’t want that, so he’ll try to use this deal as an example of Russia “providing security guarantees.” Unfortunately, it’s pretty funny timing though because Russia had also made some guarantees to Syria’s president Bashar Al-Assad, who was recently toppled and Russia couldn’t stop it.
We didn’t want to get involved in Syria, but we literally couldn’t avoid it because the US created ISIS, a group that was born in the power vacuum left in the aftermath of the Iraq war.
I think it’s more about denied claims. UHC denies more than 30% of claims whereas most other insurers range between 10-20%. UHC denies the most claims by a big margin. This is likely to make you some enemies.
