  • In theory. In reality you’re bringing feather dusters to a nuclear bomb fight. A handful of hobbyists hosting instances with how many users? Couple hundred thousand? Against a 100 Billion dollar company with 3 Billion people? Yea good luck with that.

  • Maybe a hot take, but if you want this big libertarian anarchist federated system you get all the pros and cons along with it. Not having a central authority means you have no real power to stop someone from coming in and taking it. It’s inevitable by design.

  • What’s the point in being so pedantic? Calling it the correct thing isn’t going to make it palatable.

  • You can argue semantics until you go blue in the face. If you’re not used to spicy food or hot food, or food that produces a similar feeling in the mouth, you have to be careful with Indian food. Your tolerance level isn’t everyone else’s.

  • Spiced does not mean spicy hot.

Yea but like... it's way hotter than most other American food by default.

  • You have to if you want the device in the next month or so. The model I was looking at slipped to November less than 24 hours after pre-orders started.

  • She ran against Obama in 2008, and despite being the media and party favorite, lost to Obama who received more votes.

  • 2008

  • That’s what people said about Hillary in 2008 and I don’t remember her winning the Primary.

  • The primaries aren’t rigged. If you convince enough people to vote for you, you win. Others have that very same right ti convince them not to vote for you.

You can say it’s not fair, but you cannot say it’s rigged. It’s false.

  • Why does it matter? Candidates can’t be coddled in the primaries. The general is going to be dirty, you gotta play the game.

  • No they don’t rig elections. People come out to vote and the winner wins. The party has no obligation to support or promote every candidate. If you get people to vote for you more than your opponent, you will win. AOC did it.

  • It's the hot topic of the moment for conservatives, particularly the ones that are getting banned from public sites. Other than that, it's all culture war shit like abortion, immigration, border walls, etc that all go into xenophobia, misogamy, racism, antisemitism etc. I haven't seen any real conservative ideas in a decade. Now it's all a grift. You either have a old idea of what conservative is or just aren't saying it out loud. Even when Republicans cut taxes, they cut them massively for the rich and give the middle class and poor pennies. Any time someone wants to put more money in lower classes pockets they fabricate some bullshit to block it (Student Loan Forgiveness, Stimulus Checks) all a while giving Businesses Billions and removing oversight (PPP Loans).

  • Here's an unpopular opinion for you specifically; Doing any of that will be a waste of time and not fix any of the problems you lay out. You'd have much better results by doing the work at the local level influencing the democratic party. You think fighting the corporate elite is the problem, but it's not. Third Parties have no organizational structure, no real test ideas, and often are just made up of failed Republicans or far-left individuals that have no idea or interest in governing. They are little more than organizations designed to sell books about how perfect their ideas that have never been realistically challenged are.

  • Yes, but it's not just 1 instance you have to worry about. For this to go well, dozens even hundreds of instances have to stay around. If we start losing large chunks of our history or some parts go down here and there it's not going to survive. This is my third account due to how many issues I was having posting weeks back with the different major instances being overloaded. Even then, most of the posts I'm interacting with are hosted there and from time to time there are errors.

Also Images are a huge burden.

  • Great Carlin quote about this. Have you ever noticed anyone going slower than you is an idiot and anyone faster a maniac?

  • Universal healthcare would go a long way to improve all of the latter, however to play cause and effect; If you remove unemployment and child-support, you've inevitably now increased the homeless population and driven others to crime. How you do now deal with that?

  • I’m fine being in an echo chamber that Trans people deserve human rights. That’s a hill I’m willing to die on. If you disagree, you can stay out of my bubble, I’m not negotiating this point.

  • There are already age limitations that are constitutional. You can’t run for office, buy alcohol, drive a car etc.
