These are strict and quite expensive so all the grey-area Emotos just dont do them and pass the risk onto the buyer by having a disclaimer "only for use on private property" or something. You may be able to get it road legalised with the help of an accredited engineer, but you'd be footing the bill...
Ah. Good question. Prior to this I've ridden a few DIY bikes and the Stealth Bomber, which is one those "mountain bikes" that's actually a motorcycle. I didn't love those, but this is the first commercial, production Emoto I've ridden.I'm hoping to try a Zero and a Fonz at some point soon (although Zero just pulled out of the Aus market for the 2nd time... 😅)

Severity of the crash should also be considered for overall safety.
They start at around $30k AUD, which to me is pretty expensive, but compared to performance petrol bikes (like a Ducati) it's not so bad, and also impressive considering it's a small Australian company. I'm very unlikely to get one at current because I'm after something aimed at practical commuting - cheaper, lower specs and less aggressive geometry/ergonomics. BUT I'd say that the bike is very impressive and I'm now a fan of the company.
Brief review. My main concern was the 280kg weight. Over 100kg more than my daily ride. But I actually didn't find this a problem.Loved the throttle response. I've ridden electric stuff with really bad/jerky throttles and this was perfect.I did not love the handling however. And maybe thats the weight, but the geometry just didn't vibe with me. Definitely very different to my DR650 and im sure I could get used to it, but it felt like it was positively steering, not counter steering and that was doing my head in.And yes. The acceleration in sport mode is nuts. Roller-coaster, gut drop stuff.Had a lot of fun on the test ride. Team were super friendly and transparent with questions I had.

I'd like to add to this thread (coz I rarely see this mentioned.) The rental scooter system encourages shitty riding. I only recently tried it on vacation for convenience and you pay per minute, not distance. And it's kinda expensive. So users are financially motivated to run risks (speed, cut traffic, run reds etc.) in order to save money. I was pretty horrified to find this out, but it made sense of all the shitty riding I had seen prior.
I visited Europe recently and 90% of the fat bikes I saw there were the illegally high powered kind. So I dont think they have a problem with the tyre size, just that the majority of those bikes are not suited to bike lanes. Unfortunate association.
When I was in Copenhagen there were even petrol scooters using the bike lanes and overtaking cyclists within the lane. Sketchy shit.
