Even from their store. They were being investigated by German antitrust authorities and last month they agreed to reduce the fear mongering for EU users. The agreement doesn’t apply to the rest of the world.

Apple also has a history of requiring excessively scary permission requests for things that Apple apps do without prompting. They abuse the permission system to foster a sense that Apple products are safe and any competitor is dangerous.

On specific systems/installs. That isn’t the norm.

Most recalls were already packaging issues (product A in B’s package, causing allergen issues) or physical debris, both of which are customer-reported.
Most of the day-to-day monitoring of plant output is self-testing, which doesn’t change overnight. It will slip as people get lazy, but that takes time.
I worry that cuts will actually reduce recalls. Most bacterial recalls come from the government tracing what sick people ate.

I think BLARP! just lists the specs the Vive asked for. It’s tiny.

Not quite free and might not work standalone, but I adore BLARP!
Everyone needs to hang on tighter just to keep from being thrown to the wolves.

If you are throwing it all away after one day, I’m okay with it.

Dollars are Free Speech and Corporations are People
Take a labor union that represents a thousand workers. The owner of the company they work for decides to support an anti-union candidate. She can only donate a few thousand dollars to the campaign, but she can independently spend ten million dollars advertising how great the candidate is because the 1st amendment says the government can’t limit her personal political expression. The union doesn’t have the protections of the 1st amendment, so it can’t run a counter-campaign against her. Each individual has to run a thousand different campaigns.
Buying a billboard is your personal right. Citizens United says that right doesn’t disappear when a group bands together. This in theory helps the common man since otherwise the wealthy are the only ones who can afford to run a parallel campaign.
The problem we are facing has nothing to do with that. Our problem is that wealth inequality has gotten so bad that the rich can drown out the collective voice of everyone else. The rich were already figuring this out before that decision.

A lot of the reason he’s so much worse this time around is that most of the beuracracy was either left intact or replaced with moderately competent people the first time. They’d ignore everything that came out of his mouth and only do stuff when he signed an EO, reverting when a court blocked it.
This time it’s all true believers or people will do anything for power and think making him happy will get them that. They take the initiative to implement his word salad and have much longer attention spans, sidestepping or ignoring the courts to keep pushing. Insignificant picks like the head of national parks are shoving his face on passes, painting a pool with zero planning because he mentioned it once, and blowing their whole budget on an arch.
There was drama surrounding him firing prosecutors in his first term, but the replacements all got picked by establishment conservatives. This time, a bunch of the key prosecutors are his former attorneys or hardcore supporters, leading to a bunch of vengeful prosecutions.

That was incredible. I had no idea it could be so easy.

It’s really just increased media scrutiny. There are similar food recalls constantly and as someone who at least skims every one I haven’t noticed a significant uptick in frequency or severity.
Screwworm is an actual problem caused by their actions. Additionally, all the inevitable recalls of ‘raw’ food are more significant with them actively boosting it. Neither of those shifts the safety of groceries, however.

I think it’s just that it isn’t as obvious that they will be clueless. It used to be that you had people that used tech and/or the internet and people who didn’t. Now you have people who have been online for a decade+ but have never gone more than two clicks from Facebook/Discord/etc. They are really no different from the no-computerites two generations ago and the no-internetites last generation.

I’d be interested in playing a long-form play-by-post campaign too.

Fun fact! The setting for the book/TV series The Expanse started with play-by-post D&D campaigns. Early in the first book/season there’s a shocking death that is based on how a cleric got written out when they dropped out of a campaign.

It’s a shockingly good texture. Way better than it sounds.

Waters might be a dickhead, but he puts on great shows.
Post quantities are a big indicator. A stronger indicator in this case is that their only comment on this post is accusing people of being “Reddit Agents”. That points to a specific spambot operator with multiple alts that refuses to declare any of them as bots. They had a malfunction two weeks ago that left their LLM prompt in a post.
