  • Coelacanth facts are hot. But you’d best be prepared for an equal measure of trilobite facts.

  • That’s the thing, AI is an exceptional propaganda machine. Blockchain isn’t really exceptional at anything - it’s just a reinvention of the wheel.

  • What’s with this hit piece on open source software? Imagine thinking a proprietary black box is more secure than something you can audit and fix. Plus the statistics presented here are clearly cherry picked to make it look worse.

The entire idea of FOSS being a “hidden” risk is absolute bullshit. There’s nothing in the world LESS hidden.

  • Life will be fine. Multicellular complex life might be in trouble tho.

  • I’m not entirely sure about that. It’s still so sexist that women aren’t allowed real positions of authority.

And of course, they are blatantly anti-LGBT.

And the church is much more a hoarder of wealth than a humanitarian organization.

  • If calling someone a pedo is always projecting, you must be projecting right now.

Obviously that’s not a sound argument.

  • I honestly believe Musk this time. Even the evidence says “is this still happening?”

That doesn’t excuse Musk for being the fascist who has caused the most damage to America. No one person is more responsible for enabling Trump, or intentionally controlling and pushing propaganda to the masses.

  • I totally agree, but that’s a “years” type of lock in, not “decades”. If a whole military can get off of Microsoft, so can most businesses.

  • Because spying on your customers and force feeding them advertisements is bad for business. As with virtually all companies, Microsoft can’t prioritize the long term health of their platform over next quarter’s profits.

  • Unions aren’t where workers get their power from, they get their power by providing labor, and threatening to withhold that labor. If 35,000 workers suddenly didn’t show up to work, or showed up and didn’t do anything, the entire system would collapse immediately.

The union is simply a convenience for negotiation.

  • Right, quality is not something that is easy to figure out algorithmically. But adding arbitrary rules like “content length” or “time on page” directly ruins quality by incentivizing content manipulation.

  • When search engine optimization becomes a target, content suffers. If Google changed their algorithm to only rank websites with high quality content instead of keyword-stuffed content, we’d see a great improvement in the quality of the internet.

  • People greatly overestimate the chances of success of a video game, even with $2.5 million. It’s even easy to fail entirely for reasons unrelated to developing a game, such as corporate governance.

It’s not totally comparable, because we did a physical game, the Kickstarter I created ended up succeeding and shipping (over a year late!), we lost virtually all profits to early company investors and surprise tariffs. It was basically a wash financially.

  • Hatsune Miku sweating bullets all of a sudden.

Real talk though, there’s a whole genre of non-slop vocaloid music that these policies might affect, if I’m reading the rules strictly.

  • I mean, any break from Daddy Putin is shocking in its own right. Maybe it paves a pathway for Republican legislators to grow a little bit of a spine. (Not hopeful)

  • I’ve canceled all of these services because of their endless greed.

Asshole execs can’t just leave something that’s working alone.

  • I had a good time with BG3 on Deck… until I got to Act 3.

  • Just go to the Pope’s manager like I did. I just asked Jesus if I could make an AI of him and he totally said yes.
