  • The point is to show how fucked up and authoritarian your current government is. Someone just got arrested by the police in the US for playing the Darth Vader song to protest the National Guard. So yeah, we're about as fucked as Russia right now.

  • "Trump did something bad, you say?? Oohhh, I'm so mad those pesky democrats!!!!!!!!!"

  • I stopped engaging with anyone about this because i just grew too tired and that was back in 2020 before the election. Some kid I went to highschool with that I had recently reconnected with, was posting positive shit about Trump and saying he was just joking about a 3rd term, etc etc, when Trump first hinted at this illegal 3rd term idea. I tried explaining, why is he talking about a 3rd term when he hasn't even secured his 2nd term, he is dead serious about wanting a 3rd term dude, its obvious and he just couldn't see it or believe it. Its all a joke, locker talk, etc. The usual.

I have totally given up engaging with these people, maybe other people have the energy to slowly and kindly walk them through to the acceptance phase of who Trump truly is, but I don't.

  • The solution the other person posted works in my testing, if you're using pipewire, just tested it I'm using android 16. Very neat!

Connect your phone to your computer via Bluetooth. On your phone, set the Bluetooth setting for the computer connection, to be 'headphones' and give it audio and call history permissions, phone call permission, etc. Then when you make or receive a call, it uses the mic and speakers of your computer for the call.

I didn't know you could do this, very neat!

  • I'm not OP, but just coming back to say this works if you're using pipewire, just tested it, I'm using android 16. Very neat!

  • Really interesting, thanks for sharing!

  • If you wait for the feature to be completed, the scrcpy app should do what you want.

  • What functionality are you expecting with phone call syncing? As far as I know KDE connect syncs the notification that a call is coming through, per the 'telephony integration', just tried it right now.

    "Show notifications for incoming calls"

If you're looking to actually take the audio call from your computer, you could try scrcpy, which I think is adding the ability to use your PC microphone to take the call

    https://github.com/Genymobile/scrcpy/issues/3880

But until then you can just have your phone by you and use the phones microphone, Bluetooth headset, etc to take the call while mirroring and using the phone on your computer with scrcpy.

  • I just saw that! Someone must have updated the article in the last week or 2 because I JUST went through the install process like 2 weeks ago and it wasn't listed!

  • And they get to hold on to that family land that's now worth millions of dollars. How fun for everyone else paying for their family wealth, while they vote for people screaming that everyone else that's not them is lazy and freeloading off the government teat...

  • Been messing around with postmarketOS on a newly obtained oneplus 6T 8GB ram model, and for a phone released in 2018, I'm shocked how well stuff runs, even with waydroid. Unfortunately VoLTE still doesn't fully work so I can't daily drive it, but messing around with it has been a joy!

Even though the whole OS is new to me, it still feels like I'm right at home from Linux, I can get daily updates through the console, etc. Sooo much nicer than android.

  • Just an FYI the fairphone 4 seems supported by Ubuntu touch if you wanted to try it, only thing that may not work based on this table is VoLTE and gps may take longer to lock in because it's not assisted.

    https://devices.ubuntu-touch.io/device/fp4/

Looks like for postmarketOS, they're still working on audio/camera/GPS/NFC/calls

    https://wiki.postmarketos.org/wiki/Fairphone_4_(fairphone-fp4)

Looks like similar issues with Mobian as postmarketOS

  • Ahhh I see. Well damn because that functionality does sound pretty useful, sad that its currently broken with Wayland.

  • Depending on that hourly rate a lot of that extra money gets taken away from you anyway, trying to keep up with that lifestyle. If you're working 9-9 you don't have time to cook dinners or exercise or really do anything to keep yourself healthy, so you'll either be buying take out meals, or home delivery, etc. Probably gain weight, then need a gym membership.

Then you start questioning why you're living in a larger apartment/house when you barely use the space or nice location you're paying a premium for..

It all gets fun real fast once you start burning out and can't keep up the charade anymore.

  • I love the genuine naming scheme for scams like this. If something is genuine it doesn't need to be labeled as genuine. You don't order a "genuine" burger from a restaurant, you don't buy a "genuine" BMW from a dealership, you don't get hired by a "genuine" company...

  • We also had anthrax scares at school, ya know in addition to the shootings...

  • Stole this description from the other post about this.

Thousands of private messages reveal young GOP leaders joking about gas chambers, slavery and rape.

Leaders of Young Republican groups throughout the country worried what would happen if their Telegram chat ever got leaked, but they kept typing anyway.

They referred to Black people as monkeys and “the watermelon people” and mused about putting their political opponents in gas chambers. They talked about raping their enemies and driving them to suicide and lauded Republicans who they believed support slavery.

William Hendrix, the Kansas Young Republicans’ vice chair, used the words “n--ga” and “n--guh,” variations of a racial slur, more than a dozen times in the chat. Bobby Walker, the vice chair of the New York State Young Republicans at the time, referred to rape as “epic.” Peter Giunta, who at the time was chair of the same organization, wrote in a message sent in June that “everyone that votes no is going to the gas chamber.”
