    Arguing "no true leftist" or "Your side" is pointless. The Right won and no amount of semantics or told you so is going to change the results.

    So when they start mass deporting or rounding up trans people we can just say "the dems didn't run progressive enough policie for me" and wash our hands of it I guess.

    Our current situation really is the culmination of almost 70 years of rightwing efforts. They've mobilized their base and that base turn outs to city councils to set up Nativity scenes and school board meetings to ban books. There are dozens of "grassroots movements" with varying interests, (some funded by shady thinktanks but some funded by low level true believers). At the end of the day they all show up to vote for their guy(s) to push their party the direction they want, it's worked and that party has mainstreamed extremism. Their judges and policy wonks are all Foundation Vetted and Approved ideologues.

    The left lost, now is the time. Get a couple guns (a long one and a short one) and learn how to use them. Learn some basic first aid, you really just need to know how to stabilize someone. Start networking with like-minded people in your communities. The police will not protect us, they’ve proven they’ll happily club senior citizens to the ground and shoot any protesters in the face with rubber bullets while escorting a rightwing murderer to safety.

    Iran was a secular, liberal state until almost 1980 when they (mostly legitimately) elected an Islamist theocracy; it could happen here.

    tl;dl the rich hated FDRs New Deal and immediately set to work to undo everything he did and have been pretty successful, it'll likely take decades of work to undo the damage that's been done IF "the left" can wake up.

  • I legitimately know a woman who's divorcing her husband, finding out he was a Trump supporter was the final straw. They've been in a rough spot for the last year or so, he doesn't cook/clean at all.

    She was going to leave him a year ago but tried to make it work, finding out he was a secret Trumper sealed the deal for her.

Reconstruction failed in large part because the traitorous, racist losers were allowed to go home and start implementing Jim Crow laws instead of being held accountable.

    That they and their descendants were allowed to live out their days peacefully pretending their cause was somehow noble and honorable and not just chattel slavery is a crime that persists to this day in the systemic racism throughout our government.

  • Assuming this is real (it's not) the art teacher might possibly be right in saying dial it back. Subtlety and nuance are great in art. People like to interpret artists meaning (even if it's pretty obvious). If they're anything like the art teachers I've had they were familiar with feminism and trying to help the student grow as an artist.

  • 100% spot on, pump and dumps are especially rampant in crypto because a couple of people can generate a ton of coins and own the entire market for that coin. If they can get that price to rise even just a fractional amount through whatever completely unregulated means they can dump it to the suckers buying and cash out.
