  • Westerners are easy to agitate because they live relatively cushy lives. I am not saying just because someone isn’t living in extreme poverty, they should be grateful. I am saying consider who is agitating you and why. More often than not, they just want to be the ones to control you, and hate that someone else is doing it instead.   • In a way, yes, but the key point of the scientific method is testing and validating hypotheses to confirm existing models or theories.

    Everything can be questioned in a sensible way, but if you’re going against the grain of established mountains of evidence, then you have to work just as hard to provide counter evidence or proofs.

    The burden on proof for fantastical claims is on the person or persons making it.

  • I agree with you in principle. But I don’t think this tweet guy is saying everyone else’s house should be ignored in favor of his, instead it was more like “can I hire someone quickly to prevent damage to me and my neighbors”. I know people can make a lot of snap judgments about others on race, class, gender etc. I just don’t think it’s fair or just to do that.

A person doesn’t have to extend compassion or empathy to anyone who wants to harm them, or is some sociopath or psychopath (unless the sociopath/psychopath is going through some kind of psychological treatment for a disorder).

I can’t speak to the ethics and morality of this tweet dude, but not everyone who’s rich is an immoral or unethical person, and not everyone who’s working class has morals or ethics.     Regardless, many countries which exploited the trans-Atlantic slave trade aren’t even that successful now, relative to the U.S. so it’s not just slavery which made America what it is.
