  • The painting is Friend or Foe by Robert Griffing. While he's not native american, I can't find anything to suggest his paintings were not made with a consideration for real history and an appreciation of the culture he's depicting. His paintings are featured in many native american-run museums.

  • If YouTube offered premium without music for a discounted price I'd probably be willing to pay for it. But I just want no ads, not a bunch of bundled stuff.

  • You're forgetting the part where the video is coming from a cache server that isn't designed to do this

  • Those Haitwegians, always eating cat

  • My parents still have cable. The buttons are backlit, they turn on when you pick it up and turn off when you set it down. There's also a mic button you can hold down and talk to input text by voice instead of typing on a virtual keyboard with a dpad. Not rechargeable but two AAs last for a year so why bother with a battery that eventually fails and renders the remote useless?

Even basic remotes are pretty clever now

  • I was shocked at how often you just see people laying passed out on the sidewalk or sleeping on a bench. Japan is an insanely different place after the bars start closing. Was genuinely uneasy with how many people everywhere just had zero control of themselves.

  • That's not on Google Play so it doesn't affect it. I honestly don't know what the point of this is.

  • Dude it's Lemmy I've seen people here miss Simpsons references

  • She tested positive for heroin, not THC. If she was actually actually heroin, child protective services involvement would absolutely be warranted.

The issue here is the erroneous test and complete failure on the part of the hospital to confirm its results

  • In the commotion nobody's brain would parse "that guy just threw coffee on a baby" because that's not something you immediately consider

  • Vegetables don't exist as a block I can cut slices of, fry, and put in a sandwich.

Well eggplant does but if I'm buying canned spam substitute I'm not in the mood for breading something.

  • Spam is just pork sausage in a rectangle.

  • Every platform needs a terrible meme that never goes away. Reddit picked a shoebox full of semen, we picked cat starvation.

  • My university had student apartments, each had their own router. No weird rules since it wasn't the university's network at all, it belonged to whoever lived in the apartment. Full router access, connect whatever, put it in bridge mode and connect your own if you want.

  • To many, federation is a solution to a problem that doesn't really exist for them. In their mind, the early model of federation is like email, a problem that was "solved" years ago by having one corporate product that was much better than others (Gmail).

To add, on top of that, the fediverse is like if gmail could just randomly decide to stop receiving emails from outlook addresses and there's nothing any user can do about it except make another email for when they want to email outlook users.

I don't think fediverse proponents know just how catastrophically this terminates their entire pitch in the minds of 99% of internet users

  • All meat is processed by definition

  • That is insane even correctly translated

  • Mint condition and the other side story about the position and the game is on the phone

  • Do they use rainwater collection tanks for showers or is it just a buffer tank on the roof to compensate for low pressure?
