  • Yeah, I just set it and forget it. Understand I started using Linux with a really new system and an Nvidia card so archlinux was just soo much easier than hacking away at a distro too old to support my hardware.

My system is older now but I'm just going to leave it on there because other distros kind of do things I don't like, small things but still enough for me to stick with arch.

  • Miserable because Grandma hasn't figured it out yet.😆

  • No need to be rude. For all we know it's all the writers opinion and isn't based on any real metrics. Besides I haven't seen anyone in the wild that actively uses slackware.

  • I use arch, I'm very happy with my distro. No bullshit, no decisions made on my behalf, no hacking around artificial limitations(fedora, Ubuntu), and no removing software to declutter my application menu.

I don't know if it's anyone else's experience but troubleshooting arch is easier than other distros because your intimate knowledge of the system you built yourself. It has helped me with fixing other distros though.

A tip to new arch users, keep the AUR package numbers very low or at least mostly limited to packages officially endorsed or potentially maintained by the main project.

  • I legitimately would throw away anything anything that did this. I'd throw it off the roof and link a video to their social media account.

  • I think Gentoo with no binaries should be the new archlinux. I've literally used archlinux virtually unchanged outside of updates for years now. It's been trouble free outside of some minor bugs and I change my settings in the kde settings panel 90% of the time.

  • Yeah, generations of people hunting for a deal and these companies responding to demand with cheaper options. So capitalism maybe but more so human behavior.

  • Because you always buy the cheaper seats. It's not your fault, I do the same. Flying was literally for the wealthiest of people at that point in history, it was literally a luxury to fly instead of taking a train, bus, or a boat.

  • I don't know what's eating you up inside but it feels beyond any sort of reasoning. I never liked it when people twisted my words. Were practically saying the same thing. I'm just saying hit them where it hurts, their bottom line. You are free to complain just do something productive with it.

I'd recommend a hike or maybe go rent a kayak and soak up a little nature. You seem so angry all the time it's not good for you.

  • Man people are weird, I guess people like web trackers & ads. I won't bring up ad blockers up I guess.

So weird I thought people valued privacy.😅

  • I think it would be a more constructive use of your time to find solutions to your problems or to just switch to a dumb phone and carry a netbook around just live a less stressful life.

Complaining and doing nothing about it doesn't fix anything and it even makes things worse. Manufacturers love to hear a customer resign to complacency even when they're dissatisfied. It shows them just how far they can push their users around for profit.

Generally most people at a company wants to do good in their respective roles but as a company the choice between user choice and more profit is obvious, higher-ups want to be good at their jobs too.

Whenever you see an opportunity always prove to the company why the things you care about could make them money or help them gain more users weather that's voting with your wallet, creating better alternatives, or rallying people up to peacefully boycott and or protest.

  • It's probably your ad blocker filtering thousands of trackers on YouTube.

  • Your negativity sucks but at least it's not targeted at anyone. It's just souring people's moods.

  • I don't develop kernel modules, I use python. That's pretty interesting though.

  • Do your code reviewers subscribe to the didn't check looks good model? Joking btw.

  • I've set tabs to four spaces in vim because who the fuck defaults tab to eight spaces. That shit looks alien and pushes text off the screen fast.

  • Last day at the company, pushed over 5,000 commits. Just style changes, still passes all the checks.
