  • HR with an HP

  • 455,000 is 0.0455% of 1,000,000,000. Not a big deal to someone with allegedly multiple billions.

I'm creeping up an a million net worth. That is like me trying to stiff someone for 455 dollars. An unexpected 455 dollar expense is a tiny bit annoying. This wasn't even an unexpected expense. This is like me stiffing the guy I paid to power wash my house and complaining he won't come back next time. The city should sue. 455k is worth the lawsuit in my opinion. Plus damages since the cost likely prevented the city from doing other important things.

    This is bigly sad.

  • It REALLY veered off course in 2016. I was in my 30s. I already had kids. I used to vote split ticket. Now straight blue. A lot of the negative things about Trump came about before the 2016 election.

The 2000 election and Citizens United were terrible. I remember Palin's nonsense might have cost McCain the election. That was an easy choice considering his age. My thought was, if he dies in office miss "I can see Russia from my house" response to foreign policy platform would be POTUS. No thanks. Now the GOP all seem to support Trump and his obvious fascism. Nope. The GOP needs to die and the Democrats need complete control for a cycle and should institute a popular vote using ranked choice for president.

ETA: After the changes, the Democrats would inevitably split into multiple parties, including a conservative party.

  • clips.

Magazines. Magazines include a feeding mechanism, usually a spring. Clips just hold bullets together.

  • They all have mags in them. Hopefully they aren't chambered.

  • My guess is the AI was trained on a combination of cat videos and sponge bob.

  • It was 6-3. I think that was rather obvious though.

  • For my fellow Americans, if you haven't already voted, get off your ass and vote.

  • So you are advocating not voting or voting red? Voting absolutely makes a difference at the local level where zoning laws affect car dependency or lack thereof.

    What's your plan?

  • Considering how many folks here in the US vote based on economics, the choice is obvious in Florida. No government policy will make any kind of property insurance affordable in Florida with how much global warming is kicking their ass. One party will at least pay lip service to to doing something. The other has denied it exists or is a problem.

  • Part of the problem with increasing fuel prices is the US is super car dependant. I agree, higher prices would drive demand down, but we also need to start building up non car transportion and start updating zoning laws yesterday. I don't know how anyone else in the US thinks driving all the time is desirable or convenient. It's $$$$, traffic sucks, it's dangerous and scary, and people need to get around in states where they shouldn't be driving. It's insanity.

  • Conservative = my group is better than yours so we deserve power and resources

    Tactics:

    • Scape goating a weak group to sell it to a lower class (E.g. Pre MLK US blacks - poor whites)
    • Appealing to fear and presenting a protector strong man
    • Appealing to tradition and good old days (that sucked)
    • Anti intellectualism
  • A number of measures to help students concentrate are taken during the annual event such as closing the country's airspace and delaying the opening of the stock market.

That is what thinking of the children really looks like. Here in the US we just make stupid age verification laws for porn sites like it is going to make porn hard for teenagers to get.

  • They get paid 274k...DC is expensive, but anyone that can't live very comfortably on that is awful with money. Being awful with money will lose you a TS clearance because it makes you susceptible to bribery by spies. I would think it would also be a disqualifier for a SCOTUS judge for the same reason.

I think maintaining a TS clearance should be a requirement for all positions above a certain level in the federal government. Not because they need access to TS information, but to ensure they are at a lower risk of bribery, adversarial interests, and criminal activity. Getting a TS clearance isn't terribly hard. Just generally have your act together. As long as you aren't a train wreck, a drug addict, a criminal, an untrustworthy asshat, or have connections to adversaries, you will pass adjudication. TLDR: A TS clearance would ensure high level government employees are minimumly functional humans.

  • Ideally, more people would eat way less meat.

I stand by it being that simple. Beef production has more than 3 times the emissions per pound than other meats.

It isn't about sending a message, it is about reducing GHG emissions.

As far as prices, maybe. I don't know the ins and outs of raising animals for food. I don't think meat prices are entirely supply and demand due to different costs in raising different animals.

  • Beef is the biggest mass consumed culprit. I think mutten might be worse, but it isn't eaten nearly as much.

My point is, if you struggle to reduce meat consumption, just reducing beef consumption would make a big difference. Next time you are out, get a chicken sandwich instead of a burger. It's that simple.

  • I don't disagree with drivers paying damages, but I see laws like this as whack-a-mole with symptoms of the problem of car dependency. Bars and restaurants serving alcohol with car dependent design is just a bad idea. No amount of laws is going to prevent drunk drivers from killing people as long as they remain the only way to get to or from places people consume alcohol.
