  • What's funny is that it's still ongoing since months / years, I arrived in Lemmy when Reddit went crazy about it sometimes felt like the Far West, today things have largely settled down and I'd be glad if we could get rid of this because it's really confusing

  • I could totally be misunderstanding the problem or question here,

    You understood the question right, simply put MacOS is meant to optimize battery life and use but there's some alternatives (like those mentioned) that aim to do better.

    Think about "Photos" and "Mail": there's an option built in but some alternatives exists and they are better for that matter in my opinion.

  • Yes, that's a great idea. I'm tempted to do that but my old NAS is hardly keeping up with all the services I've deployed on it so far

  • Sorry I've been out of the loop, the encrypted sync isn't safe anymore? I'm using forks since a while but I rely heavily on sync
