  • Same... when I write a mail at work I usually add details so my forgetful ass can look up what I did later, in case I need to reproduce the task. It's not necessarily important to the recipients.

  • Streets in the US are wider - those fat ass tanks couldn't handle all streets in my European hometown and finding parking space would be a daily challenge. Nice example to look up is Bruges, Belgian city since 1128. They've got old buildings, small streets and bridges- back when those were built nobody had the ability to imagine a driving monstrosity like a modern American car. Nobody needs this - even without the space issue. Their whole purpose is keeping fuel consumption high.

  • If you do this - e.g. pulling your finger - regularly during the day you will remember to do it in your dreams. If you wanna try lucid dreaming be aware of sleep paralysis.

  • I always wake up when I do this because of the shock when I see how they look - sometimes like claws, or the bones are visible. Tried this as reality check to train lucid dreaming, because it's not really noticeable to others during the day - in contrast to the casual jump to check for flying skills

  • The statement was that the amount of moved muscle is related to the amount of calories that are burnt - an obese person does not have large muscles automatically. When they move the weight definitely has an impact on their muscles - a workout without additional weights would have a bigger impact on burnt calories as for a skinny person with same muscle mass. But the impact of moving through the living room on overall calorie balance should be neglectible.

  • You're right-I didn't want to make it look simple. I'm just constantly stunned how wealth is distributed, which is one of many reasons for homelessness. A fair distribution could finance housing and support systems.

  • And the wealth of only one single manchild is enough to pay housing for them all - at least in this nation...and probably in some more. (Just looked some numbers up - world economic forum reported in 2021 that there are 150 million people homeless in the world, that would be ~2700,- per individual homeless person, taking his net worth into account -for 770. 000 homeless people in the US it would be ~525. 000 per person)

  • Top - nachdem zumindest ein Teil der Leute durch Covid dafür sensibilisiert wurde, dass es mist ist sich krank ins Büro zu schleppen, würde dieser Vorschlag genau das Gegenteil bewirken. Abgesehen davon dass sowas nur jm vorschlagen kann, der davon nicht betroffen ist bzw. der sich einen solchen Gehaltsausfall locker leisten kann. Gibt genug Menschen, die sich keine Gehaltskürzung erlauben können, weil das Geld dann für essentielles fehlt. Krankheit zu bestrafen ist niederträchtig - soll er in die Usa gehen, wenn er da Bock drauf hat.

  • He seems to actually believe there is a way to live forever. And he's spending millions per year to get there. He said he wants to show the world how to stop ageing. When asked how everybody should be able to spend as much resources as he does, he said society has to figure that out. Besides the fact that cost-intense trestments will only benefit the wealthy there wasn't one word about overall resource management, when people will die much later, but babies are born continuously. And the sentence about society has to figure it out really made me angry. Society already figured out billionairs are an issue and often enough the cause for many poor people suffering. But this doesn't change anything, cause the rich make the rules.

  • Completely agree, but my guess is they want one, but struggle with the information about the health status. Without knowing what the issue is, it's hard to say what my decision would be. But "your body, your choice" is always true and nobody should be allowed to condemn you for your choice.

  • Reminds me of a friend's story who worked at a construction market. An old lady wanted to return a toilet brush - used of course. Her reason was that "it's not dishwasher-safe". I don't want to touch this lady's tupperware, neither do I want a worker, a table or a spoon at a takeout restaurant to touch it. Tbh I want a saftey distance for all food related businesses - and myself - of at least 2m all the time to anything which has been in that dishwasher.
